This makes sense. Goff has not qualified yet so Kruger pulled his scholarship to put his guys in place instead of playing the waiting game for a guy who doesn't fit what he wants to do.

With all the good news lately I figured there would be some bad news soon enough. Hopefully we will sign someone else who can play this yr.

We need to just start fresh without any Capel signees. Is getting a PF that scored 9 points and got 6 board really missing all that much anyway?

The guy is a good athlete.

He's exactly what we need
Length and athleticism, his outside shooting touch is a very nice bonus as well.

Kind of reminds me of Juan Pattillo, he helped alot BG's last year at OU.

DUDE IS A BEAST! GREAT GET, KRUGS!

Let's figure out a way for him to play this season...GO!

Can we play the "because we sucked for two years straight" excuse for a waiver from the NCAA?

Traveler, I don't remember specific names. I am pretty sure I know what I read.

Either way, this has been reported for months by someone on Rivals that is a friend of mine and resaid on other posts.

This comes as no surprise to me.

Not that it matters much now, but I got the same info from a poster on OUI (247) who said he had good sources. I started a thread back in February asking if anyone here (Sam, ouhoops, etc.) had heard anything that corroborated that posters info. I was ripped by a few people on here, but looking back, I can understand why. Most of the ones who were upset I mentioned it were big Capel supporters. They could see Capel's days were numbered and it was unraveling as the days went by. I'm sure most of the posters would say now they are content a change has been made because it was obvious he wasn't going to get it corrected.

I would also bet any amount of money that Joe and everybody else in the administration knew Goff wasn't going to make it and that helped them to make the decision to cut bait.

lol, I highly doubt goff, a kid who was not even the star on his juco team, had any effect on their decision...maybe a blake griffin type would have but def not a juco kid

Chewy made mention at one point that Jeff's recruiting was the only thing that could save him. This was back in January, or so.

I doubt Goff's academics was the reason Jeff was fired, but I'm sure the fact he had 1 commit who wasn't going to qualify didn't help his standing when decisions about Capel's future were being made.

No doubt about it. You have to wonder if Capel just wanted to get out with his cash.

For those of you with OUI access, Hale actually has a pretty decent interview with M'Baye.

Highlights:
- Came here because of Kruger and asst. coaches
- Knew about OU because of Griffin
- Likes to play defense and run
- Will be in Norman this summer
- Has been playing basketball for seven years

Other Facts
- Played on the French U20 National Team, someone told me he was a teammate of Ibaka, but I haven't confirmed that
- Speaks three languages: English, French, Wolof (a native language from Senegal)
