As we gather little tidbits of information on the team, it seems as though Nick Thompson and Andrew Fitz are going to be the starting post tandem. Both captains, both voted hardest workers on the team, Thompson most vocal leader, etc. All signs point to these guys being the starters.

Now, they don't exactly bring a reputation for rebounding.

Fitz averaged 2 rebounds per game last year, and Nick Thompson averaged 4 rebounds per game in junior college last year.

In high school, Fitz only averaged 8 rebounds per game. In high school, Thompson only averaged 7 rebounds per game.

So, throughout their careers at any level to this point neither seem to be very good rebounders.

BUT, all reports indicate these guys are working extremely hard. They will come into this season stronger and more ready than any other season.

Do you see rebounding as a problem with these guys? Or will their hard work pay off and they will prove to be good on the glass?

If it becomes a problem, I like having a guy like Washington ready to get in there and make it happen. I don't care what level it happened on, that dude can board.

Whoever turns out to be a reliable rebounder it will be crucial to me. Defense and rebounding will take us a long way towards having a better year than predicted.

Big

I think you have hit the season on the head. I think we can go about as far as our bigs take us. I expect a deeper, harder working and decent perimeter defensive team. I think we can and will be a decent offensive team, but with some deficiencies. The unknown or question I think is how we can and will defend in the post and whether we can rebound with the better teams.

Fitz, Nick, Chris, Abdi and Barry may hold the key to the season. To be honest, I don't expect much from them this year. Four of those guys will be playing D-1 ball for the first time. High expectations is just not fair nor realistic. Hopefully, they can hang in there and at least bang enough to allow us enough success with our strengths to win more than we lose.

I will be very happy with winning record this year, and estatic with post season play. I would like to see us get back on track this year, and then re-emerge next year as a contender.

this team will need to have rebounding as a very high priority because we won't have any dominate rebounders this season, rebounding will be a group effort.

Agreed.

Hopefully, :fitz80s:, will be revert back to his days of outrebounding Thomas Robinson at the old Brewster Academy like he did for a good portion of their senior years.
