for those without access:

  • OU still in the mix
  • Doesn't have a list of favorites yet
  • Was asked to name some schools he was interested in at a recent camp and just named the first schools that popped into his head
  • Stevie & Ryan Spangler have been talking about what it would be like to play with each other
  • He will play high school basketball next year but maybe not at Douglass
  • Quote's from mom “It would be a dream for the boys to go to school together, but you never know what’s going to happen,” “Deondre was very excited about the LSU offer. He really likes OU and LSU right now.”

Thanks.

That seems more likely then OU being dropped completely, and out of the blue, like it was made to sound last week.

I still say he stays close to home. OU and Mizzou have to be the top two. LSU might have an outside shot, but I can't imagine Stevie wanting to go there. Is Arkansas interested in either? That'd probably be a good fit as well.

Thanks for the update, StatGeek!

I agree that LSU would be a better fit than UCLA and some of the other schools being batted around lately. I can't see Stevie picking a destination that would put him too far from his close-kinit family. Mizzou might be a possibilty, too, especially if Dre chooses to go there. Haith and the Tiger's style of play might be a good fit for Stevie. But I don't believe it would be the best option for his brother.

Still, despite three straight down seasons, niether of those schools have a better tradition in basketball than OU. If the brothers want to give family members and friends the opportunity to see every game they play in person,, the obvious choice is OU.

I found his relationship with Ryan Spangler pretty interesting.

His interest in UCLA could be based on watching Westbrook excel for OKC. That's got to be a good selling point for Howland with Clark.

Arkansas has tried to get in on Clark from what I understand, but I don't think it would be a great fit. Clark is a scoring point. Anderson's style of play doesn't really emphasize that as much as some others. It would work, but IMO Clark would be a better fit in a point-oriented offense as opposed to the motion style offense Anderson runs (he's better with bigger combo guards like JT Tiller/Zaire Taylor... or a guy like Kendal Harris).

OU or LSU would be difficult for his brother to turn down for football, but MU's done alright developing DL under Pinkel (Aldon Smith's 14 sacks last year as a rookie being the most recent evidence of that). Unless he commits pretty early, though, I would assume Stevie's decision won't be affected that much by his younger brother.

Mizzou has less than 0% chance with deondre clark.

Probably true. MU hasn't landed any elite recruits from outside of Missouri in quite some time. I do think Aldon's success in the NFL combined with a good first year in the SEC could help change that, though.

Regardless... he's at least considering MU to some extent now. Stevie's decision will likely come long before his younger brother's, so as long as Deondre's at least somewhat open to the idea of playing here, it won't hurt us with his brother IMO.
