Beard fired

And the UK fanbase is not exactly happy with him. I doubt that is the direction Texas will go, but if they decide to throw a ton of money at him, I could see him considering it.

OK. I don't follow Kentucky, but yeah if they are becoming disgruntled with him and he needs to "parachute down" then yeah UT would make more sense.

Dixon? Sounds reasonable to me. The whorns are fond of going after coaches from other Big 12 teams.

The timing is, of course, unusual, so how does it work? Do they actually hire a currently employed coach mid-season? Surely not. If not, do they conduct negotiations under the cover of darkness and then announce their hire the day the season ends for that coach's current team? Does that coach, knowing he's going to Austin after the season, keep recruiting for his current school? Does he secretly recruit for texas? A little of both?

Sad. OU invests very little in the program and gets very little ROI. Others invest heavily and have a top 10 team.

OU hires a mid major coach and gets a mid major program. Texas will break the bank and hire a proven winner to continue their success.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but pointing out the Longhorn hoops fan base isn't any better than OU's. I laughed out loud last year when reading Bob Huggins say that playing in Austin doesn't feel like a road game. His direct quote was: "It's so quiet there, you can hear conversations going on in the stands." I guess it's just the administration which wants to win as the fans in general couldn't care less any more so than OU fans.

Well, we all knew OU was going to be at a disadvantage vs Texas once this NIL thing took on a life of its own.

These are all great questions that someone needs to pay attention to. We saw it with OU football.

Gotta be better than this. Because a guy starts at a lower level.. hes mid major. Been to a final 4 and sweet 16. more than most the big 12, more than most of ncaa basketball.

He's in year 2...

I remember thinking Beard was one of the few hires of the offseason more of a homerun than Moser. At least we know we beat Texas on our hire.
