Better for OU to have lost in triple overtime than won in regulation?

With all the publicity the program is getting, I am wondering if its better for ou to have lost in triple overtime versus having Latin make the free throw and win in regulation? Thoughts?

a loss is never better than a win. NEVER!!!

in the long run we get rewards either way. I do think the loss is significantly cushioned with all the praise so it's a plus in that regard.

As far as losses go, this is probably as good as it gets. A win would still be better, though.

Wow, really?

Am I the only one who is disgusted by the national media attention and their patronizing pats on the back after choking away another sizeable lead late in the game @ afh? This program is too proud for that BS.

In fact, I see the media attention being a potential negative for our team because the team may think it is ok to lose. I certainly don't think the team feels that way but I would rather the media continue to disrespect us until we actually accomplish something special.

TONY, a tad over board. No one is saying its ok to lose, 2 great teams had a battle and someone had to lose.

The thought of this makes me sick. What would General Patton think?

Honestly I have a lingering feeling/mood that I witnessed a magnificent thing and Buddy with the whole program were the reason. Clearly winning in triple overtime is the 1st choice but this mood isn't from an OU loss. This was a statement game without the W plus a fond memory for decades for many basketball fans(hopefully Ashley Judd ;))...
If this had been the dance I would be completely crushed !!! because 88 still really hurts.

I certainly would have liked to win. My point is there is much more publicity about the game and the program because of the triple overtime. If we would have won with a Lattin free throw in regulation the publicity would have been much less in my opinion

I would always rather win, but I truly think this is the kind of loss that can accelerate this team's growth. Confidence will be high and the drive to beat these guys in Norman will be immense.

I worry a bit about a hangover on Saturday, though.

Publicity is great, but it's fleeting and never fills any space in the trophy case. A win in Lawrence would have given OU a leg up on the Big 12 conference title. I'd take that a million times over trending on Twitter for a few days.

That's my fear as well. The last thing we need is to lose to Kansas TWICE, five days apart.

The pub is great. Plus, Dick Vitale will be talking about this on every broadcast for the rest of the year...but there is no way this tops a win in regulation.

There will be no hangover. Mark it down. This team remembers the two losses to K-State cost us the Big XII regular season title last year. Payback is in order. First half may be tight but the Mildcat revenge starts Saturday!
