Big 12 Hoops Tournament stays in KC

I understand Memphis is a beautiful place to visit in February. You may want to check out the following link.

I don't wanna be going to Memphis in February. They'd probably beat KU. They are gonna be tough. I'm happy in the Big 12. I enjoy winning the conference every year.

I think OU could thrive as in win some games, but it would be pretty hard to replace Texas. Recruiting would become a lot harder. I don't think it would be in our best interests. I don't think we would thrive long-term.

Remember the Big 8 but also that's why you add TCU and Houston, the biggest tv markets and metros in Texas. Sorry if it's too football centered for the board. We are OU in national perception, in this respect it does really matter. If Boise st, Utah or Cinci had OU's street cred, the BCS would already be a mushroom cloud. OU vs TCU would become a national game. TTech and osu benefitted from OU and UT cred , so would Houston if they are decent. My point is OU makes the rest of the conference better in national perception, so good programs become more relevant. OU would recruit their share from Texas and remain a national power.

Texas hoops got a big exposure push from playing the big 8.

Exactly. And you're spot on about Texas hoops. Texas basketball was crap and in the crappy SWC before they joined the Big 12. Since joining the Big 12 they've received the exposure they needed and have turned themselves into the 2nd best basketball program in one of the top basketball conferences in the country. If Houston and TCU would have joined the Big 12 instead of Texas, Tech, Baylor whoever...they could be just as nationally prominent.

I'm looking forward to attending future Pac-16 Basketball Tournaments in Los Angeles.

Just as easily?

They have the largest budget in collegiate sports with the most marketability. No way TCU or Houston could have done what UT has on a national scale.

Forget LA.

Las Vegas is where it's at. Bump the MWC back to Denver, take over the Thomas & Mack or the new arena which is opening up on the strip.

Take that Kansas City.

Why? Houston has been to nearly twice as many Final Fours as UT has.

Now that's funny. :ez-roll:

And a reality check. How crappy would that be? You think KU has an advantage in Kansas City....the Pac-10 teams would have a huge advantage...like half way across the country advantage.
How about the Pac-10 football championship played at the LA Coliseum or wherever every year. Think USC would have an advantage?

A lot has changed in almost 30 years.

OSU must be a better basketball program then.

Right. What changed is Texas joined the Big 12 and Houston didn't.
Texas hoops was nothing before that. Texas and Houston were both in the SWC doing nothing.

OU in football and KU in basketball would keep the conference relevant in national perception. Good teams that compete against them will also be relevant, like TCU football or Houston basketball. It looks like this thinking is a waste of time because Joe C is following what he sees as the safest course which is sticking with big bad ut. Why would CU be more attractive than KU to the new conference.

Dallas will get football every other year with jerry world being the host. Now basketball will suck big time with us having to go to LV or LA

And BTW, If you do get invited to a Super BBall Conference like you suggested the other day, how will it feel playing that conference tourney in NC or Madison Square Garden

It would suck. I think it's a horrible idea of the Big 12 breaking up and in 4 years if you're playing in the Pac-whatever you'll be wishing the Big 12 was still around.

I never said it was a good idea, I have just accepted the inevitable

Disagree. LA sports fans won't care about basketball as much as KU fans. They also will be too cool to be loud either. It's a whole different ballgame than KU and Mizzou in KC.

I totally agree but it's not about the fans or atmosphere, it's about money and power. The Pac 10 original teams will what it on their turf.
