Unless he does the football spring game or something this will probably be the last time Bob Barry will call a game for OU. I know there's going to be a lot of people basically saying good riddance, but I really like him. I don't think he's near as good as he used to be, but I don't think he's near as bad as people say. But more importantly I think he's a great guy has dedicated so many years to OU(and OSU and Tulsa for a year) and deserves respect and I hope he does well in retirement.

I'll happily listen to someone else do the broadcasts, but I'll also feel for Bob and the void that his retirement will leave in his life.

Thanks for the memories Bob...now we're moving forward.

what an a-hole response. I dont think Bob needs your pity, good grief.

Seriously?

I was being nice. Dude has lived OU sports (and that forgettable time with OSU) for decades and if I remember correctly, he lost his wife sometime during the past few years.

It's not pity, it's empathy.

By the way, you can kiss my...oh never mind.

yes it was serious. You start by saying you will happily listen to someone else, then instead of making a nice comment you focus on "the void" his retirement will create, and then you finish with a smug Al Escbachesque "c-ya"(now we're moving forward) comment. I stand by my response and if you were really trying to be nice.........try harder next time.

He just got old. It happens to everyone at some point in time. He will be missed though. The first time i heard BB call an OU football game was at the hospital the day after i was born

How about them apples

slam

he hit it

sam bradley to jermaine grisam.

I heard that both he, and Cade's ceremony will be after the game. If we lose there might be 100 people there to see it.

Actually, the way things are going there might only be 100 there for the game.

Whatever.

He's a tradition that will be long remembered. He's also a broadcaster whose better days are LONG past.

I wish him well, I thank him for the memories, and I hope he finds happiness in his retirement.

I also look forward to more competent broadcasts of our sporting events.

Sorry if that's too wuff and tuff for you to deal with.

Nah...the aggie fans will mostly stay to honor Big Bob Barry as he was their PBP guy for a long time (almost 30 years). I would count on 3-5K aggie fans in attendance and another virtual road game for the crimson and cream.

"Tim Heskett takes the pass in the corner, fires up a shot, BANGGGGG!!! HE HIT IT!!!"

"Hollis Price shoots, SWIIISSSSHHHH!!!!"

According to the Tulsa World:

Barry called games at OU from 1961-72, at Tulsa in 1973-74, and at Oklahoma State from 1973-90 before returning to OU in 1991.
