I would probably favor Texas in the Big Twelve since they only lost Fussell. They do return a lot, and they add a couple of supposedly good ones. On the other hand, I didn't see Texas as having quite the right mix to move up this year, like they are missing something that would take them to the next level. Atkins might, but Duncanville women's basketball players are somewhat like Stephensville quarterbacks in that they probably have more recognition than others due to their system. Sandra Meadows lives on. Texas needs that one player to take them up a notch. I like Enempkali a lot.
I think Baylor loses that player, and, despite their recruiting, I don't see a replacement for the star quality of Sims. Davis is now the superstar. But, they could use a floor leader, and I don't know that anyone actually believed that someone other than Sims was the point guard. When it was time to play, it was Sims that they looked to.
West Virginia did lose a lot. Asya Bussie, Chrystal Caldwell, Taylor Palmer, Brooke Hampton, and Jesse Harlee were a lot to lose. They only keep about thirty percent of their minutes.
Iowa State does have quite a bit returning. But, Christofferson was the one that everyone concentrated on making it possible for Moody and Buchner to operate outside. I don't know if they have an interior, and that has been an ISU strong suit.
I just don't see any definition of next year. I see a lot of possibilities, but everyone is kind of like we are. They need for something to work out. Of course, we had all of the answers at this time last year, and someone changed the questions on us. But, I think there is more reason to suspect that Texas will emerge than that Baylor will continue without definitely superior talent. Baylor has always required superior talent.
