Though nobody can duplicate the antics of Kim Mulkey, Bill Self is the men's version of Kim Mulkey. He literally complains the entire game to the officials and asks entitled to every call. He literally bullies the officials the whole game. I took great joy in his technical foul because it was quite revealing. He was already chewing on the official, bullying his way to the next call. Then, he got a bad call that went against him from the same official he was lecturing. He literally couldn't believe the official would have the audacity to make another call against him and lost his mind. However, I don't think he lost it because it was a bad call. He lost it because he always gets "the next call" and felt entitled to it. When he didn't get what we wanted, he acted like a total child. It is exactly what Kim Mulkey does. If I was a KU fan, I'd be embarrassed. The guy is a whale of a coach and has built a phenomenal program, but his antics are embarrassing. Of course, the antics are effective. You can't argue with OU being called for the last seven fouls of the game & what Mason was able to get away with on the sideline.

Working the officials is what BB HCs are supposed to do. He crossed the line a couple of times because his team was playing lethargic and it woke them up.

He won.

Kruger isn't the same personality, but should have went ballistic after KU's interfered with the inbounds pass right in front of the bench. That was a technical foul imho.

I agree with most of what you said except for the part of "If I were a Kansas fan I'd be embarrassed." Call me shallow, but if my coach won 11 straight titles, I would not be embarrassed in the slightest.

I'd be embarrassed that he's a whiner. I fully admit he's a great basketball coach and is immensely successful.

i don't have an issue with self like everyone else does. He does what he can get away with

So did Mason. He knew he was breaking the rules on the inbounds play, but he also knew he'd get away with it. There's something very wrong with that picture.

I don't think Bill has ever performed a strip tease on the court though! :)

Bill Self rides the officials no different than most D1 coaches, doesn't matter if your at an elite program like him/Izzo/Calipari/Coach K or at lesser school like Frank Martin, Bruce Pearl, Travis Ford etc.

Rolls over into personal life as well. Some people just think they are above the rules/law.

Agreed, I was just about to mention K & Izzo do the same thing.

And 25 wins a season. If he coaches as long as coach K at his winning rate, he will win more games. Obviously actually doing it is harder than simply projecting but it is still an amazing thing.
