Board is quiet.....

Word. I honestly believe OU can play less than their best, and still have a fairly easy path to the Elite 8.
That may be true but what happens if the other teams play better than their best on that day.

Didn't say it was a given that we'd win playing less than great ball, just that it's possible. If we had different matchups, I wouldn't have said that, but we managed to avoid the types of matchups where I thought OU would almost certainly lose playing less than their best, and might even lose playing a good game. If OU plays well, we'll make the Elite 8 or Final 4 relatively easily.

OU will have to play down to be beaten before the third round.

Texas AM scares me. Great long point guard, a legit Center. House and Jones are big and athletic. They have a legit 8 man rotation. It's hard for me to pick OU against them, but I am :) in most of my brackets. If we get past them I think we make it to final 4.

I just hope Lattin shows up and Spangler is aggressive.. I'm not too worried about our guards in this tourney.

The problem is the last 2 months we have played down to the competition in almost every game. That's what concerns me though we are battle tested in tight games but I wish we won more than we did. Every loss except the KSU game we had a lead late but couldn't finish.

It's worth remembering their have been many more wins than losses, and many of those were in tight games against good teams, too. We had very few patsies on our schedule.

What you may be forgetting is that every one of those losses came in the uber-tough Big 12 conference. None were against teams like CS-Bakersfield, VCU or Oregon State.

By the way: the "great" Mike Golic picked us to lose to aTm in the third round. :ez-laugh: Yes, the same Mike Golic who fills out about 20 "sheets of integrity" to give himself at least a chance of being close on at least one.

We'll have to play absolutely our worst games of the season to lose in either the first or second round. We'll need to step up and play well to get past the aggies (assuming aTm makes it to the third round).

aTm should have lost to the Big 12's 6th place team in CS, so I'm not yet sold on aTm as a team. Can they beat us? Absolutely but if we play well we should win that game.

Agree, BOB. We should win, but we could lose if we play poorly and don't shoot well. I also agree that aTm is overrated – not a Top 10 caliber team.

The truth is match-ups absolutely do matter.

Keep the quote in context ... match up don't matter if Buddy is the only one scoring without any support from the rest of the team. I realize that is a Captain Obvious statement that applies to every team in the tournament, but my point is that OU hasn't been consistently hitting on all cylinders for the entire game lately.

My comment wasn't that matchups are irrelevant, some matchups can give OU fits, but if OU is hitting on all cylinders, OU will match up well with every team in the tournament, including KU, then the game will come down to the little things like rebounding, free throws, foul trouble, and lucky bounces. That is what makes this team & this tournament so fun to watch this year, the potential is there!

I can't speak for everyone, but I am trying to get as much done at work as possible before taking off all day Thursday and Friday. That's why my post count is going to be down during the day

This. I'm super pumped for what it's worth! Lol
