You guys see his block on the fast break about 5 minutes into the game? I didn't know he was that athletic. He is going to be a solid player over the next four years. I think he will struggle some with his percentage this year, but I think he'll prove to be a pretty darn good 3 point shooter in time. He has a nice looking stroke, and the confidence that is needed from back there.

I'm surprised that his percentages are so low, pretty much all of his attempts looked like they would go in.

Despite the fact that Booker didn't blister the nets like I had hoped he would, I was impressed with his play overall. He's solid on defense, mainly because he works hard at it. He's not quick like Woodard or Cousins, he's just a heady player who knows how to be in the right place most of the time.

Like you, I was amazed when Frank blocked that shot to end Washburn's fast break. He blocked another one later in the game. I had no idea he had hops like that. I agree, I think he'll be a good one in time. Billy Tubbs thinks so, too. He had some nice things to say about Booker's stroke.

He was shooting it well warming up. I know that's a lot different than actual shots in the game but you would think with that good of a stroke, it's just a matter of time until his shots start falling. The ones he missed looked like they were going in to me.

He is not shooting relaxed. Hoping rather than knowing it will go in. Typical disease that most newcomers face.

Once he starts looking for his shot that he knows he can hit and shooting it in rhythm he will start hitting more.

I think he has as much touch and more range than Pledger had. He just has to relax more in the flow of the game. He is also much more athletic than Pledger so he will be able to get open more.

Shooting as well as Pledger will be a tough task but if he can shoot close to that well and play better defense perhaps he can be a better player.

I think I can say pretty confidently that Booker is a better overall athlete than Pledger, and moves better.

And I think in time, he will approach Pledger's level of shooting. That probably won't happen this year, but it wouldn't shock me to see Booker go out and shoot somewhere between 30% and 34% from three this year.

That is good news. Pledger was a pretty good player. If Booker has a shot to be better that says a lot to me. I would be thrilled with a guy with slightly less shooting ability but significantly increased defensive skills. Pledger's lack of mobility hurt him defensively and probably to a lesser degree on the offensive end of the court.

About ten days ago a group of four of us were sitting along the sideline in the practice gym. Coach Tubbs was two to my left. There wasn't much chit chat. We were just watching practice.

A little over an hour in Booker comes up the court, pulls, up and hits a 3 in transition right in front of us. Tubbs asked, "what is that kids name?" He was told Booker, a freshman from Augusta. Tubbs shrugged his shoulders and said "he is better than Pledger."

Four or five days later I had a chance to visit some with one of the assistant coaches. I passed that story along to him. Coach said "Tubbs is telling you the truth."

Did you see Pledger interviewed during the last exhibition game? He looked fat to me or extremely thick. How can you be trying to make the NBA, 22 years old and fat? I just don't get it.

He looked thick. But he made a dleague roster. More than many talented players done. Good for pledge
