Bracket reveal...

I love their reasoning for OSU not getting in is "too many Q1 losses"

Got it. I hope OU gets the easiest cup cake Utah St schedule you can find in a few years.

We lose to utah state last year...

Yep, I remember this being a big event for me. It was literally a party.... 1 of 4 things happened.

A.) I have gotten older, have a kid, etc and don't care as much
B.) There are significantly more entertainment options today as there was when I was a total nut about this in the late 90's and early 2000's and I don't care as much
C.) There is some kind of societal transition, societal decay, etc happening
D.) I don't know

I agree getting older and having other interests plays a role.

But if OU were getting in, my interest level would be a lot higher. And hey, under Kelvin that was the staple, getting into the tourney every year.

And Lon. And Billy. Moser and Capel are the outliers in the past 40 years.

I remember when I was a kid in high school and a student at OU, there wasn't even so much as a question as to if OU would be in the tourney. Hollis Price was our star player, among others back then. Towards the end of college, perhaps a year after those guys had graduated, we failed to make the NCAA tourney one time, and that felt like a HUGE failure back then. Now, we seem just content to make the tournament, let alone win a few games. It's just crazy to see how much the program has changed since my student days :(

I believe if Moser replicates this type of season next season, then he will be fired. We simply cannot go more than 3 years being a losing program, not making the tournament, IMO, and they will start looking elsewhere. That's just how I'd be looking at it if I were in charge, but then again, what do I know?!

Yup…

At one time we had the longest streak of postseason play.. even above ku, uk, Indiana… unc, duke…

Moser has only been here 2 seasons and made the postseason in his 1st year (not NCAA but ou was the 1st team out). He hasn’t been here long enough to make that comment.

That was including NIT appearances. Still an incredible streak.

And if I remember correctly (I used to know for sure), it was only two, maybe three NIT scattered among a very long string of postseason appearances.

It was five (1982, 1991, 1993, 1994, 2004), but out of 25 years, it's still an .800 batting average. I realize today it is all about NIL, but when I look back, I see the most underrated men's basketball team in America over the past 45 or so years.

- As already pointed out, at one time having the nation's longest consecutive post-season streak.

- 5 consecutive head coaches taking OU to the Sweet 16 or beyond (and hoping that streak does not come to an end).

- Losing two home games over the course of SEVEN YEARS (we lost 7 home games this year alone).

- 3 different head coaches leading us to the Final Four in the modern era of college basketball.

- Having a major award (National Freshman of the Year) named after a Sooner. I love hearing Dick Vitale saying: "So-and-so is my leading candidate for the Wayman Tisdale Award". NOTE: There is no major award in college football named after a Sooner.

- Hearing Coach K say: "For Duke to win our first championship in basketball, we need to be battle-tested outside of our conference. That is why I scheduled a game to play in Norman, Oklahoma". NOTE: Duke won that game, and won their first natty a few months later.

We certainly have an outstanding basketball tradition...and why it's such a bummer to see where we are right now.
