Breaking Ray Willis News

Not only is Ray not a division 1 player, he appeared to be quite miserable sitting on our bench. This is the best thing for all parties involved.
Our whole team must not be up to snuff. Never seen a guy get walking papers for leading the team in rebounding in his only two starts of the year.

To me them getting rid of Ray means capel has some good things up his sleeves on the recruiting front...

I don't think it's fair to say "get rid of", no one knows how the convo went down. What if Capel says you probably aren't going to get any PT here and helps him find another school through his network?

That's definitely a positive for both sides.

That he did, but there wasnt one instant with him on the court that i felt he either (1) got better, or (2) was a Major Division 1 player...

and i was as big a Ray fan as any...

For all of those who are wringing your hands worrying about what will we ever do now that Ray is leaving, I have this to add, I'm pretty sure we will be able to find another 25% field goal shooter who can average 2.6 points per game without too much of a problem.

Curious if he's leaving on his own or if he was asked to leave. We'll probably never know.

just saying he wasn't a no talented scrub
find it odd that these talented players just don't work out under Capel, hate to blame the guy but sooner or later it stops being on the players when its happening time after time

Yea...I agree...gotta think about that

I would hope capel is setting down every kid this week and letting them know their options...being honest and telling them they will never play but can play at this school...and letting it be their choice while helping them find another schollie if they go that route

exactly. we don't know the conversation. Ray gets my respect for the effort. adieu.

+1

Best of luck to you, Ray.

I am hoping he ends up at a mid-major, dedicates his redshirt year to getting stronger and working on his game, and makes a good impact as a shooter/scorer at the C-USA level.

The Daily Wipe said today that Capel is recruiting until Wednesday and will sit down with the (REMAINING)troups after that.

Disturbing trend in talent and character evaluation, which definitely falls on Capel's shoulders.

However, it's not like Willis came here and set the LNC practice facility on fire with his dedication (stabbing and DUI night before a game) and conditioning (weight issues). Hope he rights the ship at a mid-low major.

well, I don't like speaking ill of the dead or xferred ... but effort isn't just measured in games. Being a gym rat pays off with better play and more PT. Scraping by gets you pretty much what Ray saw.

I doubt talent had anything to do with this. From all reports, the effort wasn't there, and if that's the case, I'm glad we parted ways.

It's time to get some players in here that are worried about the name on the front of the jersey.
