Brooks fired

I never said I wanted donovan. I'd be ok with it if he had the right assistants.

But it is pretty funny to see you praising gentry while calling others homers and idiots.

Gentry has 12 seasons as a head coach with four different teams with a career .475%

He has finished above 500 three times in his career as a head coach..

He has never won his division.

He has never won his conference.

He has been to the playoffs twice.

He has only advanced past the first round once.

But we all know how much Boca loves anything suns related so he has that going for him.

He is a good assistant. That is about all he has going for him. He will never be the thunder's head coach.

Messina is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Almost everywhere he has been has been a success.

Hey how many active head coaches in the NBA have coached a team to the conference finals?

Carlisle
Byron Scott
George Karl
Lionel Hollins

Before Brooks was fired, 40% of the active head coaches in the league had coached a team to the conference finals. Add in recently unemployed guys like Mike Brown, Mike D'Antoni, Avery Johnson, and Mike Dunleavy, and that's one hell of a mixed bag.

I'm not saying that Gentry isn't qualified (I'd be fine with Gentry), but that's not an exclusive club, nor is it a good indicator of coaching acumen.

I look at that list and think those guys are pretty damn good Smash. Was just commenting last night to a friend what a wonderful coach Hollins is.

OKC would fall in love with the Gentry. He's extremely personable. Presti is not going to hold previous rebuilding jobs against him. This is not a rebuilding job. This is a win the title job. Can Gentry give them the best chance to win titles the next 5 years. That's the criteria.

Looks like it is Donovan. Dissappointing but I'll trust in presti. hopefully he pulls in some great experienced asssitants

Basketball is basketball. You don't win like Donovan has at Florida without working extremely hard and having the right formula.

The bad situations in the NBA are rebuilding jobs where the talent to win may not materialize before you get fired.

This hire would be a decade commitment for Donovan, KD, Westbrook, Serge & Kanter. That's what Presti is shooting for obviously. Sell them on a long term program.

The reports can't be true that presti didn't consult KD,RW, or serge right?

That's not good when your best player is a free agent after next season. This looks more luke getting a guy for the long haul in case Durant walks or is traded....

For what it is worth, attitude wise, BD seems to have similar attributes as brooks. Positive attitude, family is important, etc.

He seems to be scott brooks but with actual coaching accomplishments
