Low-hanging fruit, sir. I'd assume it's related to the collapse of print media's market and the dispersion (due to cancellation, death, nursing home relocation, etc) of Sports Illustrated's long-term but aging subscribers. Plus the fact that Rick Reilly has turned into hot garbage and their longform feature-writing is just about as bad as it gets in sports media. It's been a long time coming for the glossies, but this happened a decade ago to most non-Times/Post/Tribune newspapers and I can tell you that digital revenue streams can barely keep up with existing staff salaries and overhead.
At least your avatar declares your bias.
