Showed how he will help the team tonight. Hit a three, battled on the boards, saved a possession by tapping it off the glass that led to a huge Woodard layup. Looked comfortable out there. Set good screens and didn't force it. I like he and Spangler together.

They needed him fore his strength and size. Sooner were getting worked on the boards. Mcneece and Lattin were not getting it done. Buford was strong enough to fight against some tough post players.

He seemed a little unsure early, played better. He is going to help more than Lattin

He was also the best post defender tonight. Memphis wasn't scoring with near as ease in the paint when he was in the game.

I like Buford's game and he played well tonight. 5 points and 8 rebounds is a good start. He will get even better as he gets more comfortable. The thing that concerns me is he is only 6'7". With him and Ryan Spangler at 6'8" in the post along with Buddy, Cousins, and Woodard makes us a very small team.

We have to give Lattin, McNeace, and Manyang quality playing time so that they develop. There will be games where that small lineup won't allow us to compete very well. We need some reliable post players as an option and those 3 are all 6'9" or above ..... and athletic.

1. The last OU team to make the Elite 8 went 6'7/6'8 on the front line and the first big off the bench was 6'6 (the Griffin Bros. before Blake's late growth spurt and Patillo). I won't say that Spangler and Buford are for-sure NBA players, but Buford's face up game is more advanced than Taylor's was and Spangs is a better post defender than Blake was. Even though the 08 team had a 6'3/6'4/6'5 backcourt, Woodard is more active on the glass than AJ was and Cousins is a more committed defender than Willie Warren. I'm just saying, in college ball size gets trumped by motor and overall skills rather frequently.

2. Even so, the second point is dead-on. However, Memphis has a puncher's chance in a pretty deep conference (SMU isn't a tourney factor anymore but UConn, Louisville, SDSU, and Cinci figure to be) and I think it's forgivable to play your hot hand in a road game that could give you a quality win for bracketology purposes. Lattin was ineffective and McNease got into foul trouble while Buford stepped up tonight. I imagine that prior to Wisconsin the other bigs will get more run; whoever looks most ready will get the minutes in that one. And then we'll know who's the likely guy next to Spangs.

I have no idea how good Lattin or Mcnease will be after that game. Lattin makes me nervous. I like how athletic and long they both are, but I just wonder about their offensive game. Hopefully the rust comes off for both guys by the Wisconsin game. I thought Buford played well for just kind of being thrown in there.

You can tell what coach thought about it by who played down the stretch. He needed players he knew he could rely on and that was Buford.

Dante changed the game. Period.

Love our options. Dante is our physical guy.

I thought he gave really solid minutes for a redshirt freshman in his first game. I would take 5 points and 8 rebounds from any back up big man.

I won't be surprised to see him work his way into the starting rotation.

Don't forget the Golden Hurricane Showers, they SHOCKED the #9 Shockers last night!

And the 'ville now resides in ACC!

Buford may be shorter than Spangler but he can probably jump 8 inches higher.

Loved Buford's performance last night, but I can't imagine that he'll ever be as good a rebounder as Spangler. Then again, I truly hope I'm wrong.

He has that deceptive gait where it doesn't look like he going full speed but he really is.
