Buss family sells Lakers

kinda sad. should be interesting to see if he/they care about going above the second apron, not that i know much about it. but if they spend like the dodgers…sheesh.

They actually aren't that different. Around 12-14 mil average per player or so for the team. Taking out the dead money. And Jeanie Buss is staying on so I doubt much changes in the short term. You will still be hancuffed with LeBron and Luka's contracts. But we will probably start seeing a transition to how the roster will look with Luka being your main guy even this offseason. But you still have to pay LeBron and Luka 100 mil or so. Reaves, Hachimora, Vanderbilt, Vincent are likely not going anywhere yet.

It's not the whole ball of wax, Nicholas. It's a majority stake. And if that majority stake is worth 10B.....
no the valuation of the sale was at 10B for the entire team ..

they only sold 24% of the 67% they own .. (the 24% was not for 10B as that would be the Lakers value at over 40B)

Walter already owned 27% of the Lakers ..

he / they are great owners ... they will run them first class ... that said NO one will want to live above the second apron as it limits your basketball moves and draft picks

I was going off the screaming headlines my eyes saw while having dinner. Thanks for the additional info!

If this is right it's actually about 6 billion. Maybe the 10 bil eval is because Walter's 27% is already 3 times the amount he bought it for?
