I really hope Cam buys into his role. It's not to be a scorer. It's to be a defensive stopper, rebounder, and slasher. IMO, he should try to make himself into a Thabo type. They have almost identical frames.

Thoughts?

Clark might be a little too "nice" to fully be that, I subscribe to the belief that you got to have some nasty (or dirty depending on your definition) in you to be an elite defender.

I also know Cameron has aspirations to be play in the NBA. Filling the role of Thabo on this OU squad, while great, would not garner enough attention to see a raise in his draft stock. What Thabo does for the Thunder is great, but he's also a very potent offensive player. When he played in Europe he was the dominating scorer on his squad.

I guess I'm trying to say he needs an identity. At this point he just floats around and waits for some to penetrate and kick it to him for an open 20 footer.

Even if Cam was to develop that defensive killer instinct, I still think he would always have a bigger role offensively than Thabo ever would with the Thunder.

In fact, becoming a junk yard defender type as his calling card could probably do wonders for his NBA potential. Its better than his current role of being an athletic jack of all trades but master of none. No reason Cam can't aspire to be a Bruce Bowen/Thabo type.

The issue is the same as above though, those guys could dominate lesser competition pretty easily. I was dating a girl that worked for the old CBA team in OKC and went to quite a few of the games, "NBA" level guys that got sent down generally dominated offensively whenever they wanted. Then look at Rodman, guy scored 50+ in a college game.

He might want to improve a few things...
