Watching this game really makes me wonder how we can survive without Newell. It is really obvious what teams will do to us once in conference. Grooms is good but running around trying to get loose from all the attention he is going to get is really going to be tiring. Carl has got to step up when Grooms needs a breathe. I see Coach trying to get him to run the team when he comes in but, I just dont have that feeling he can do it. Up to this point and and excited but, once in conference play we are going to have bigtime problems with no depth at that position.

Although Blair isn't perfect he generally makes a positive contribution while on the floor. Unfortunately his mistakes are more noticeable so people bash him.

I am not really bashing. It will be more noticeable when he comes in for Grooms and believe or not, he has to be better than Grooms. Because his job is to give Starter minutes. Remember he has been in Div 1 longer than Groom so doing the right things coming off the bench is even more important....

Newell bailed so get over him. Blair is here so support him.

touchy, touchy subject. I guess we know you are Carl fan!! So, am I. He just has to find his role and he will be fine. I would bet that coach in practice has told Carl the same-thing I am talking about. OU will go as far as Carl can take us. Him coming off the bench and running the team will be a big factor. Resting and controlling the substitutions we get us wins that we don't think are possible....

I have been very critical of Blair but I feel he has made great strides so far this season and has really reduced the turnovers he was proned to having every time he got the ball. He still isn't where I would like to see him but I think he will be good enough to give Grooms the few minutes of breathers.

The importance of those minutes he plays is going to be the difference in a upset or 2. He has gotten better and I believe soon he will realize his job....

I feel ya! While I appreciate and "support" Blair the sooner! We really need to upgrade our depth at guard and center going in to next year if we want to be a better team.

It's very clear that navy2004 has been out to sea on duty and did not get a chance to see the game against mizzu or saint luis of cincy. The boy grooms does not know how to run the offense where it flows smoothly. Someone needs to look at the games when kruger was the coach for las vegas it was a different style but, because capt. Grooms can't make split second decisions he has to slow the game down making it very easy to beat ou that's if you're a top 50 team. The only thing capt. Grooms is doing is trying to feel the stat sheet he has no concept what team ball is, because if he did, please explain to me why he refuse to pass to blair. Most of the good teams in the college game today play two guards in which it opens up the offense . Remember daren williams and dee brown.

LOL thanks for the 1st post. Most teams in today's game play two guards? That's insightful! Your statement is most teams nowadays play 2 guards, and your example is a team 7 years ago? All ribbing aside, I agree with some of what you're saying that Grooms isn't the world-beater he is made out to be sometimes on these boards. He and Cam Clark need to change their current level of play otherwise they will be disappointing compared to their hype coming in.

Most JC transfers don't adjust to the D1 game until late January or February of their first year in D1. It's a little early to be throwing Sam under the bus.

I really like Blair. He was brought in here from a low major caliber program to fill an immediate need. He did the best he could. He is accepting his new role and doing the best he can with a good attitude.

Grooms was easily the best available option Kruger had to upgrade the point guard position at the time he was signed. Several of the top tier programs gave Grooms a look. But, they didn't sign him. They had better options.

But, he certainly is good enough to play point on this years team. And even though next years team should be much improved. Kruger, by the way he has recruited, seems to think that he will be good enough to be the point on next years team too.
