it was a done deal the instant the Clips were given the top pick.

Blake shouldn't sign a long term deal right off the bat. He needs to bolt when he becomes a free agent.

All NBA rookie contracts for first round picks are structured the same: first two years are guaranteed, third and fourth years are team options, then a player can become a restricted free agent or sign an extension after the fourth year, or a player can accept a one-year qualifying offer for the fifth season and become an unrestricted free agent after that fifth year.
