Did they change the rule about coaches calling timeout in the men's game but not the women's? I know that not all the rules are the same.

Yeah, I was watching the game when the announcers said that Kim ran out onto the floor to call timeout after a made basket by Baylor. I wondered why the officials allowed her to get away with that, then I remembered that the stripes are all intimidated by the Waco Witch.

Seriously, I am amazed at how much latitude the officials grant her.

It is time to tell the Big Twelve to enforce the rules, or we will exit. I don't see the crap in other conferences that I see in the Big Twelve. They tend to call fouls.

The women's rule is different. A coach can still call a timeout during a live ball situation. That rule change was only implemented for the men this year. Not sure if it is in the works for the women.

I was confused about this early in the year, but looked it up after a few timeouts were granted when a coach called timeout during a potential tie-ball situation.

I figured it was either that the rules are different or the announcers were wrong about who called the timeout.

You do have to have possession. In that case, did she have it?

That was probably debatable - which brings up another question. I've noticed for years that if you attend Big XII tournament or NCAA tournament games, the powers that be in the arena don't show replays of plays that are the slightest bit controversial. That seems to have bled over to the TV broadcasts.

They showed a lot of replays today. At the arena, that is. Don't know about TV; deleted that recording without watching.

Talking about rules -- whatever happened to the 5 second rule? The Baylor point guard dribbled around for 8 to 10 seconds on several occasions and I keep waiting for a whistle. No whistle. ?

I think they have to be closely guarded at the time.

That only applies when the offensive player is holding the ball. It no longer applies if the offensive player is dribbling.
