Some of you know me, so for y'all I'm just sharing a bit of happiness at this time.
I'm 43 and I have an 18 year old daughter. She's a wonderful person, representing our fair town as a pageant queen and will be attending OU next year with all intentions of attending OU law school. Her mother and I have been divorced since she was 6, but have done a pretty good job of parenting along the way, along with our families and my wife, who I married 6 years ago. My wife and I have tried to have another child since we've been married, she is several years younger than me and has no children. We have not be able to conceive and were told in December, after many tests, that short of spending 20k+ on invitro fertilization, with a 25% chance of success, we were pretty much out of luck. At it turns out, miracles do happen, however. On Thursday, I heard the beating heart of my unborn child, a very certain future member of the Sooner Nation. I'm going to be in my 60's when this kid graduates high school, but I'm going to be a young 60-something.
Boomer freaking Sooner.
:clap
that's what life is all about. I can still remember hearing my daughter's heartbeat the first time she was in my wife's tummy and the emotion of it all really overtook me. Then when I held her for the first time...man, what a moment. Nothing compares to the feelings of a newborn baby.
My daughter is now 6 and since she was born in Kansas she tells me she likes the Wildcats and the Jayhawks, and we live in Missouri so she also tells me she likes the Missouri Tigers (her Kindergarten teacher is a tigers alum and has brainwashed her), but I took her to her 2nd OU basketball game last week to the womens tournament. She had on her OU cheerleading costume, and her 2 pom-pons. The best part was she was booing when osu scored (I didn't teach her that; I'm not sure how she learned it; must be genetic) and clapping when OU scored. One of the best days of my life.
Congrats Shooter...you are a very lucky man.
