Could someone update me on recruiting

Problem with Buford is that he's already burned his redshirt year, so he would sit his junior year then play as a senior. If anyone leaves my guess is Shepherd or James. Really hope it isn't James bc I believe he's much better than what he played this year.

I don't see Shepherd leaving at all. I think he's one of Lon's boys. He seems like a good kid and a hard worker.

I think he's also a good teammate.

He is but as I've said all year, he has attitude problems. He played awful yesterday but I hope he can do some inner evaluation and realize the attitude needs to leave.

Not seeing Freeman's name mentioned, and I think he's the most likely to leave. Because he's almost literally at the farthest point on the globe from his home and he could be getting paid to play professionally in his home country or in Australia. Instead, he's riding the pine here and given the guys currently on the roster, I'm not sure I see the path to more playing time for him.

The problem is he can't play the 3. He can't play defense, he can't rebound and if he's not hitting his 3 he can't score. He still has not adjusted to the college game. He thinks he's in high school where he can overpower smaller kids.

It's not that he CAN'T play defense or rebound, it's that he doesn't try hard to do those thigs. He has the physical tools to be a good defender and rebounder, and if he ever sets his mind to be really good at those things he will. He could be a prototypical 3 and D guy.

I would actually say if anyone were to leave, it'd be James or DSM. James, for the fact that he couldn't handle the pressure and his attitude, and DSM for his attitude.

james would be my guess .. and I feel bad for him .. he was playing at a very high level to start this season ... and after Woodard got hurt he put too much pressure on himself and he started to massively struggle he lost his starting spot (and pretty clearly is never getting it back)

so he stays and plays as a back up wing the next 2 seasons ... or transfers sits outs next season and hopefully regains his stroke and confidence and maybe makes an impact at somewhere like Houston ..

if he transfers we HAVE to get a grad transfer because we would become super super thin on the wing

MPJ ;)

In reality, It wouldn't shock me if both DSM and James left. DSM will be buried next year as well.

That make's sense and honestly would probably hurt us the least (him or Buford) with Manek coming in & Doolittle having a great freshman year.

I dont get strong...yes he's going be surpassed by young and shepard, but he's on ship, needs surgery, only has 1 more yr..

Buford or/Freeman. Manek? Will take his spot...Freeman has really dropped...

I feel like we can be scary good next year,” said James, a sophomore who was a quality sixth man a year ago on the Final Four run but struggled to find his bearings this season.

Fyi

So, if it's him it will be a surprise (to him). :lon

DSM has some attitude issues. Has gotten into it with Kruger during practices. Even was forced to sit out for 5 minutes after an argument.

For what it's worth if we get a graduate transfer we only need the scholarship for one year so DSM would be a strong candidate. Like the pun? I haven't heard anything about him but it does work.

I've also heard there is a good chance somebody will be moved along. At this time they still have to find a guy who would help us next year. It also could be that a player just thinks he needs a change of scenery.

Hornbeak was moved on because he thought he lived by Colorado rules.

Coach, appreciate all the info you bring. Wasn't there a tidbit you said you would give if Trae committed to OU? If so, I'd be interested to hear it.

Ah yes! I may do that later on.

James is going to be in full contention for a starting spot next year. He had an awful year, but we don't have shooters, so if he finds his stroke again (and we know he can shoot) he'll be right back in the fold.

There is only one guy he can start over, and that is Odomes.

Young and McGusty will and should start next year. Given their skill set, I'd prefer to start Odomes along side them. If James can regain his form, he can be the scoring guard off the bench.
