Cousins vs. Grooms

The only way that happens is if LK doesn't think Cousins can stick at pg. If Cousins starts this entire season, I think it's unlikely a true freshmen will unseat him next year. Not impossible, just improbable.

Why would you say this? A true freshman is arguably replacing a guy with two years in juco and one year in the Big XII. If Woodard is better, I think Woodard will start and Cousins will see time at two or three spots next season.

And Grooms played 8 more minutes than Cousins. So what exactly is the problem? Does it really matter how starts, if LK is going to play the best options more minutes? Not like we've gotten off to bad starts.

It's clear to me that LK wants to start a fairly defensive lineup. I think that is why you haven't seen Grooms or Fitz put back in there yet.

JMO, of course.

Cousins got into foul trouble early in the second half.

Cousin's is the better basketball player overall.

If the other D is pressuring down court then Grooms should probably be in because he has better ball control and has a better initial pass than Cousins but the rest of his game is pretty much a liability and with Cousin's it isn't.

I think Cousin's is better on defense as well. Grooms does not rotate well at all on defense and gets lost when teams pick and roll on him.

Cousins also has a better +/- than Grooms. Grooms +/- for his career in Norman is terrible.

Grooms made a timely lay up the other night but he also missed one as well as another shot (went 1-3 from the field).

Bottom line is that Grooms has very good handles and above average initial pass but every other aspect of his game is a liability on the court (when he shoots it might as well be counted as a turnover most nights) and that isn't true with Cousins. If Cousins can get comfortable he will take us farther in the season than Grooms would be able to.

Everybody just ignore sun coast in this topic. He just has extreme butthurt against grooms. I think he slept with his girl

I don't know who will start next year, but Woodard is grooms with a jump shot. And, I think Grooms would be starting this year if he could shoot. But, who knows. We don't know how Woodard will adjust to the college game and we don't know what Cousins and Hornbeak will look like next year.

Woodard is a pure point, however, and has a good jumper. Tough kid too. Other than TMG, he is the best point signee since Foster signed with Tubbs. Kid has been exceptional since the 9th grade, and has played big school and AAU ball at a high level, so I think he will transition well. But, who knows.

I'll tell you, I like every kid Lon has brought in. I haven't seen Elliott or Hamilton, but I like the sound of those kids as well. Spangler and Bennett are going to be real good.

Program is on the up tick for sure. Our non conference will be at least 9-3, and could end up 11-1. And, I think we can go 500 in conference -- maybe.

If we go 11-1 OOC, we'll almost certainly go .500 or better in Big 12 play. That would include wins over ORU, Ohio, Arkansas, and aTm.
