Just read on twitter that Long time Baylor assistant and head recruiter To
Resign as assistant coach! WOW wonder what's going on
In waco??

All his DFW Elite recruits have graduated and perhaps his ties to the Dallas area AAU scene isn't what it used to be.

Here is what I found on BaylorFans:

BREAKING NEWS: DamionMcKinney has resigned as Asst. HC with Baylor to pursue other professional challenges.

That could mean anything from, he was fired, to getting an offer as a HC, or getting out of coaching, or anything in between. I guess we will find out over the next few days. Not good news for Baylor.

My assumption is that now that the players he brought in are gone, they are moving him out to make room for a real coach (or the next AAU deal).

I think they have enough "coaches" but, every team needs big time recruiters.

I find that is a "professional" way to say Kim fired him or he is burned out. I will bet Kim hires another AAU scene recruiter...the cesspool will continue.

+1

I think another coach on staff just took a coaching job at low Div 1 school, right? Don't they say, "heII hath no fury like Kim Mulkey scorned"??? She may be cleaning house after having arguably the best women's player ever (and a 1st team All-American point guard) and only winning one NC in 4 years!

Isn't "cleaning house" the last ditch effort by the head coach to produce a greatly improved season or be fired him/herself?

He was hired in 2006 so he was certainly a part of the recruiting of the best players they have had lately.
At the time he was hired, he was the coach of the AAU Dallas Elite team that all those players were on.

I don't know the ages of the players on the Dallas Elite team but I guess it's possible that you're right. His last year as an AAU coach would have been the summer of 2006 when Griner would have been about 15, I would think, and Sims would have been about 14.

You didn't already know about this deal? My understanding is that it went something like this: Kim already was in with Griner's dad. So take Griner away from Houston to McKinney's Dallas AAU team, have McKinney put Mulkey's daughter on the team, and together they began to assemble the all-star team that would all come to Baylor. Having done his part, McKinney was rewarded with an assistant coaching position at Baylor. Now with Griner and the bulk of that AAU team gone, McKinney's reward has run it's course.

What are the ages of the girls who play for Dallas Elite?

This is what McKinney said:

Hardest part of this all is the baby bears I leave behind. They will b good though becus I wldn have recruited them if they wasn't SPECIAL!!

My first impression from reading this is, he very well may have been fired.

It's always nice to have college coaches who know the difference between wasn't and weren't.

Well, we can see where Brooklyn Pope learned her grammar.
