GAME 28- OKLAHOMA (13-14) vs AUBURN (15-12) 8:00pm CST on ESPNU

I think Davis has been, by far, the biggest bust of the four transfers. We knew who Pack was -- a good/great shooter who would struggle defensively and not be a factor on nights when his shot was off. Brown, for the most part, has done very well. He has had several poor games but overall has been as good as you could hope offensively after making the leap in competition. Reid has not been spectacular and I don't watch him and immediately think "wow, this guy is a future NBA stud, no wonder he was a McDonald's AA," but he is a solid player for a guy playing his first healthy season.

Davis has been a disappointment. Numbers down from last year. Obviously Moser's preseason hype about his defense has proven to be comically inaccurate, which either shows yet again that Moser is clueless when it comes to evaluating his players, or that Moser was just incapable of getting Davis to play with the effort necessary to unlock his potential. And his offense is so streaky. His shot is horrible, and the rest of his game comes and goes. There are times when he is invisible for long stretches, and I don't think he is nearly the athlete Moser and others claimed. I said within the first week or two of the season that contrary to what Moser and Coach and the beat guys were saying, this roster doesn't have as much athleticism as the team two years ago, and I think that has been proven beyond any doubt.
Id argue Reid...

It's 5 games to win it, unless you think winning 4 gets them back in the at-large discussion (I haven't looked closely, but I wouldn't think it does).
No, I thought it was 4 to win it. We would have to win the conference tourney auto bid to make it in so that’s not happening.

I think it is five since we will finish in the bottom 4. The tourney starts on Wednesday and ends Sunday, so for the losers like OU, it takes five wins.

Warning for kellen Sampson idiot fans..
I always find it interesting watching the bench dynamic during Houston games. Kellen clearly is more active than most assistants, but it always appears to me that he is kind of just trying to play a character -- like he is mimicking Kelvin's behavior and personality. And Kelvin does listen to his input most the time, but occasionally you can tell that he wants him to just get out of his ear lol.

Who knows whether Kelvin will turn out to be any good, but I think he has taken a risk by not going after a head job at a smaller school. He is in his 40s now, so he isn't all that young. I would have thought that after several years on his dad's staff, he would have tried his hand at being a head coach and then coming back to Houston when Kelvin retires or looking for another power conference job. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yikes, I had no clue his numbers were that bad. Maybe I just had higher expectations for Davis as a senior than I did for Reid, who only played about half of last season. But how on earth can he be that bad defensively?!?
Reid like most younger players is much more up and down .. like you i expected davis to be better and more consistent ..

Jones on the other hand has been as advertised .. he is the best wing/guard defender on the team (and he plays hard) and it is mind blowing that porter cut his min at any point this season ..

He is a dork. I doubt Houston even honors their plan of hiring him after Kelvin.. But even if so, he won't have as big of a leash as he thinks he will imo. Hes trying to jump the line to a job he doesn't deserve bc dada. People won't respect it and it rarely works..

Look at Kevin kruger.. his dada got him the unlv job and he was canned there after 4 failing seasons.

I don't blame them.. id be trying to be handed a multi-million dollar job too right out of the gate. But imo, it does them a disservice. I refuse to let OU fall into that trap and hire kellen. But kellen would be too scared to take it anyway luckily..

I think Kruger was a little different because he at least spent multiple seasons as an assistant at two schools where his dad wasn't coaching. And UNLV wasn't exactly thriving when he got the head job. Kellen getting the keys to a top 5 program (like you, I am not certain it will happen, especially if Kelvin keeps coaching for another few years) in the best basketball league in America would be a huge gamble.

Dork? Dada?

What the eff is wrong with some of you?

I guarantee you Kellen will have a better career than Kevin Kruger or Pearl's kid. But if he does, you'll just use the excuse of him taking over a great program that Kelvin built, as if Pearl didn't just take over a pretty good program too.

And Kellen will definitely get the job. Unlike you, there are a lot of folks around the country that think he's going to be a good HC.

It's fine that you don't think that, but the constant criticism and name calling, its giving "it's personal" vibes.

So to be clear: you don't think it is okay for Hoops to make a comment about Kellen because it is "personal," but when you disagree with a point I make, it is okay to directly insult my intelligence? Pot, meet kettle.
