Morgan is a player I was a bit disappointed with once she took over for DRob. Of course, just about anyone would have struck me the same way as I LOVED DRob the entire 4 years she was at OU. Morgan has grown on me and now she is a player I very much respect. Many used "coach on the court" to describe Whitney and I believe that portrays Morgan as well. She may not be the ideal point guard but, she certainly has helped us win a lot of games since she took over at PG.

What ONE word would you use to describe Morgan's play on the court?

Sherri.

It was interesting that during the Caravan, Coale said that the weight of the flag became very heavy late in the Australia game. Since there were no time outs, she wished that she had had Morgan to lead the team as Australia overcame a seventeen-point deficit. She could just call out to Morgan, and Morgan would have known what to do. She didn't have that.

As good as DRob was, did she have that same ability to communicate with DRob? Morgan doesn't have DRob's ability, but she has the ability to do what is necessary to stabilize the situation. Think of what this team accomplished. Missing Whitney, Kaylon, Cloman, and Maddie, this team went to the Sweet Sixteen. This was with a Jo who had really not overcome the effects of a broken jaw in the first couple of games. This was a team without depth.

What led to that stability? When a team does what OU did this past year, you look for a guard who has led the team.

I suspect that we'll find that Maddie and Derica have a bit of Sherri. I wonder about Gioya and T'Ona.

Morgan has become more than a coach or a teacher on the court. She understands the game and what Sherri wants from her. Watch as she directs where she wants her team mates to be on the court. Her communication on the court is excellent. She's not the fastest, she sometimes dribbles too much, but right now there is not any one on the court I want with the ball to direct the team when crunch time is upon them. That also goes with what Norm said, She enjoys taking the youngsters under her wing and make them feel comfortable with the team.

I think Morgan's sometimes excessive dribbling has more to do with the others standing around than it has to do with Morgan. She keeps an even keel and can get aggressive when there is an opening to drive to the basket and is a good enough three point shooter such that you cant leave her open which helps keep the defense honest. I've liked her from the start.

I would describe Morgan as "solid". Morgan isn't a top 10 point guard but, you normally know what you're going to get with her running the show. She shoots pretty well, doesn't make many mistakes, can get to the rim on occassion, reliable defender, and is a player you can trust in just about any situation.

IF, anyone on this team becomes a college coach, I won't be surprised if it's Morgan.

Jimmy Harris, Steve Davis, Jamelle Holieway, Claude Arnold, Josh Heupel---none made All-American. These five football equivalent of point guards won seven national titles. That is the point guard's function---to make the team better.

Morgan is Sherri, what Sherri would be if she were on the court. She is what makes the team better. In this respect, she is a better point guard than DRob.

Since I never saw Sherri play, I don't have a clue how she would play the position.
