Does Hannes have a chance to start at the 5 next year?

I see Polla working this offseason on a "Hannes shake" similar to Hakeem back in the day. With his size it would be pretty effective. This guy with a money fadeaway might be just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, John chose Marquette over us. We didn't turn him down. Maybe someone w better info knows something else but I think John turned us down rather than the other way around.

5point 5 rebs a game at Marq.

I think he choose them as well.

I also agree, Hannes has way too far to go to be what we need in a 5 next season.

I really hope one of our new guys can step up and fill this void. Not having a dominant big guy down low really hurt us this season!

Regardless, next season is something I'm very excited about. We have our 3 best, most consistent players back, plus Reeves and a TON of talent coming in and replacing what left. How could we not be a better team next year?!~

Having a 6'6.5" inch forward playing the 5 going up against 6'9 and taller players every night is a sure way to mediocrity.
There is a reason for the 7-11 conference record. We are easy to
Doolittle may very well be our best player, but he is simply over matched at the 5, we give up WAY to many easy lay ups due to having an undersized 4 playing the 5.
I hope some of the incoming bigs come in ready to play because playing Doolittle at the 5 is a recipe for making every teams bigs look like all stars.

Spot on.

It's gonna be hard to have our 5 best players on the floor without Doo playing the "5" though.

Harmon
Bieniemy
Reeves
Manek
Doolittle

Which of those 5 is gonna come off the bench? Gut says it's gotta be Bieniemy or Reeves but don't really want to do that, but if I had to pick one it would probably be Reeves so he can bring some scoring punch in the game for us.

I’m guessing Alondes Williams plays a lot at the SF position..... taking Odomes place. We need a big body wing to help on the inside. The guy is a stud. I’m guessing Reaves at the 2 and Williamson at the 3 for our 2 wings.

Is Reaves going to take McNeace's role where no matter how long he is here and how much he plays people are always going to spell his name wrong?

Isn't he related to Big Country, so it should be Reeves right? :ez-laugh:

If Bieniemy comes off the bench it will be bc Alondes Williams is a starter. I can't imagine one of the team's best players will come off the bench & play less so that a weaker player can play more.

The roster has only 1, maybe 2 5's, on it (Polla & Merritt) & neither of them should start nor should either play starter's minutes. The bottom line is that it doesn't even matter anyway since only KU & maybe West Virginia (if Konate returns) have a true center in their rotations anyway.

Fair point, but I don't see Lon bringing Reaves off the bench for instant offense. That's more of an NBA thing, where teams have very defined rotations and the bench guys play a lot of minutes in each half and they need someone to carry the scoring load. In college, that rarely happens. And Lon has always started the five guys who he thinks give us the best chance to win. The true bigs will probably get more minutes against certain opponents, as Ghost points out. But if Victor and Kuath give us good minutes, whether at the 4 or 5, that will also help some of the rebounding/size concerns.

They have hope that Polla can give us a few minutes maybe even 10 a night. He has the size and decent skills. It will be determined if he can play at the speed the game requires.

I hear Victor I is a slightly shorter version of Wooten at Oregon. Hopefully he can block shots like him.

My thought as well

Most teams play small and he may struggle defending smaller 3s

OU chose Polla over the Union kid that is 6'9 and averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds a game this year for SMU.

Ethan Chargois? Wouldn't it make more sense to say Brady over Chargois? Manek and he are both PF, not sure you can say that about Polla, who is more of a traditional center.

Can see Polla in the same role of bygone Celtic, Jungle Jim Luscotoff, foul, rebound, foul, smash go back to the bench.

You need to watch SMU because he is their postman but does set high post screens like most postmen do. But that wouldn't fit Wichita's story!
