I'm just throwing this out there. I have no inside info. She's graduated and working on a masters.

Does any one think she'll just say she's had enough of basketball and move on with her life?

I could see it happening, but don't feel strongly about it either way.

I've never seen any indication she didn't want to. If she knees are holding up, I would think she would.

She will be back next year, however I have heard she probably will not petition for a sixth year.

I would also agree she comes back next year, because she is only a redshirt junior. If she was to quit basketball after this season then I would say there is something wrong internally with in the team. I don't see her applying for a 6th year unless the 3 we have coming in change the way we are playing.

I think it is apparent that Maddie loves to play. She smiles after taking a hand to the face. I think she will come back next year.

A sixth year mayy well depend on what happens next year. I think she would only come back if she sees something developing next year. If she sees a Final Four (next year, Stew is gone) on the immediate horizon, I think she would like to be a part of it. I suspect that if she sees some development from Gabbi, Morgan Rich, Dungee, Vivi, EJ, and Nancy next year, she would return.

I'm sure she comes back but I hope she works hard in the off season. She is the most over rated OU women's player in the last 20 years as far as I am concerned.
She's obviously very athletic, maybe it's her knee or lack of confidence in her knee. Hopefully another year will improve her health and her confidence.

I don't know what I was thinking. I meant for a sixth year. Sorry guys, my head wasn't on straight. If she did walk away next season. That would be telling.

Again, I apologize for getting my years
mixed up.

If she goes she goes. Has her Degree and I really don't believe she is going to get better than where she is now. Her injuries really set her back. Question. Can she make an impact next year with this team or is she physically and mentally burnt out. I believe if she feels their is a chance for this team to achieve something than I believe she comes back. Good luck to her eitheir way.

I think she will return but not sure she will start over Dungee.

Maddie won't start?

Let's get at least a little more of a picture.

Scoring: Maddie is fourth at 8.5. The leader has 12.7.
Rebounds: Maddie is tied for second at 5.0 (trails in the fourth digit to Vivi). The leader had 7.1.

Assists: Maddie is #2 at 2.67. T'Ona leads at 3.16.

A/T ratio: Maddie leads at 1.43. T'Ona is at 1.31

Blocks: Vivi 41, Kay Kay 20, Maddie 18. The rest of the team had 15.

Steals: Maddie 50, T'Ona 48, Peyton 47

Maddie kind of does everything.

Now if we can mix aggressive pills into her Wheaties we'll be set.

Maddie's got to shoot. Apparently, Sherri's pretty fed up with that not shooting crap.

I could see Maddie on the bench if she doesn't start shooting and hitting.

Do you not notice that the team's flow stops with Maddie on the bench? She does things that gets the offense an opportunity: blocks, steals, good passes.

I'll admit that, Syb. Will you admit the head coach isn't happy with her NOT shooting. I didn't see Baylor or some other teams getting slowed down by much of anyone. Maddie does a lot of stuff well, but shooting must be one of them, according to Sherri.

If you don't do things Sherri wants, you get in her dog house. Getting out of that is nearly impossible, we all know that.

Maddie needs to become a reliable total player. Certainly you can agree to that.

While I appreciate some of what you are saying, Ollie, she won't bench Maddie unless she can replace her with someone who can do all she does AND can score with regularity. Even if she found such a person, I expect she would play that person AND Maddie. She is too valuable in so many ways to not play her.

Hopefully, Maddie (along with others) will spend every possible minute in the gym between now and this fall and improve their shooting significantly. If so, this will all become a moot issue.

I think Sherri would love to find a way to get Maddie to be comfortable as a scorer. I don't know what the problem is, and I don't think Maddie or Sherri do either. When Maddie starts a game in a relaxed manner, she can do what she did against BYU and Tech. She just hits threes in a relaxed manner and drives smoothly to the basket. Yet, she seems to stop once she hits double figures.

There were times against Baylor that she drove beautifully to get into the middle of the lane. She made a beautiful pass to Vivi or Kay Kay. Yet, she was so wide open that she should have simply taken the shot. I don't think it occurred to her. Her focus was on getting it to the post, when she had an unobstructed six foot shot.

She is almost there. At the end of this year, she was doing so many things so well that she wasn't doing previously. She just wraps across the scoresheet. Maybe we need to start Maddie fan clubs to let her know we want her to shoot.

Well, I agree with a lot you say about Maddie having open shots she didn't take.

I also agree that it is unlikely she gets benched for any significant time.

But if she starts next season the way she played this one, I just think she --and Peyton for that matter -- might be riding the pine or coming off the bench.

Sherri just might think she needs to start over to a great degree.

I see the likely starters, in order, to be:

Vivi
Maddie
Gabbi
Gioya
Peyton
Chelsea
Nancy
Derica

I see Gioya and Peyton more at risk because they don't get the rebounds, blocks, assists, and steals that Maddie does. They have to score to stay in the lineup. If they were to have another year like this, I suspect that Chelsea and Morgan would get some opportunity.
