Didn't seem to be awed with play at this level. Will be interesting to see if she can maintain that against tougher competition but it was a very impressive debut.

An interesting thought. I don't believe that she was more highly rated than Williams from the Northeast Academy team. And we offered Williams before we offered Edwards. After seeing Edwards last night we may need to reassess the view of some that Williams is potentially a role player.

My impression after these few glimpses is that Carter and Edwards have higher basketball IQs than the other freshmen. Both seem to have a good understanding of what is expected of them and they are just doing what comes naturally on the court. To play effectively, players cannot be thinking all them time but just must be able to turn it loose and play the game. I have not seen Shaya or Gibbs in that category yet. Wyatt has potential but we will know more about her once she gets a bit more comfortable playing at this level. She shot the ball poorly the other night but I think she will elevate her game in the next month.

I think Sherri will feel pretty good when she subs Edwards for Morgan. The number of assists Edwards got the other night was impressive even against a weak opponent. She just needs to cut down on the turnovers. I also think Carter can fill in for Aaryn. The question is, will everyone take up the scoring slack when Aaryn goes out for a rest.

This year: I cannot imagine Sherri going more than 10 deep on her roster. If she goes ten deep I would imagine the following might get some minutes:

1. Morgan
2. Edwards
3. Aaryn
4. Carter
5. Sharane
6. Kornet
7. Griffin
8. Kaylon
9. Portia
10.Shaya

Just my opinion, but the only person I would change would be Derica for Portia. I think she brings more to the team than Portia does. She did not shoot the ball well on her first night, but she did other things that impressed me. Solid defense, and rebounded and followed her shot. I think she will work her way into the rotation as we move through the season.

I agree, Edwards was a head above the rest of the freshman. However I think this class of freshman can all play and should contribute this year. I was very impressed with time all.

I thought about that but I think she may have trouble seeing the court with Aaryn and Carter playing the same position. Honestly, I think minutes will be scarce for Derica, Shaya, Portia, and Gibbs in tight games.

Her saving grace is that she runs the break really well and knows how to fill lanes properly. If we are going to be a true running team, that may help her get on the floor, but she will have to produce or you are right, Sherri will probably stick with an 8 or 9 kid rotation.
