ESPN: College Basketball's Top 100 Players

Buddy at #8 seems a little low to me.

There aren't 7 guys in the country that I'd take over him right now.

They act like Cousins is just a 3 point shooter, and that it wasn't even anything more than a good year for him.

Kid will graduate underrated, it's a shame, but I love having him on this team.

Was surprised that Villanova only had 2 players, and they were a #46 freshman and #73 senior guards

I can't wait to watch Ben Simmons play this year

I see Buddy at #7, Cousins at 66 and Spangler at 83.

If I counted correctly, 14 of the top 100 are from the Big XII.

I agree about Cousins being underrated. I think he is a great defender and they ignore that he shot over 40% from 3 point range and 46% from inside the arc as a sophomore. His overall shooting percentage as a sophomore was actually higher because he took a lot more 3s as a junior. He shot over 80% from the line as a sophomore too. He has averaged over 4 rebounds a game the last two years and more than 2 assists and more than 1 steal a game the last two seasons. I think his turnovers will be down, his assists up, his steals up and his rebounding up.

For Spangler they say OU doesn't rebound well. I never really thought of OU as not rebounding well last season. I looked it up and learned that OU was 122nd in rebidding margin nationally but a bunch and I mean a bunch of the teams ahead of OU were not even playing in mid major conferences. For the Big XII OU was 6th in rebidding margin and 5th in rebidding per game. I guess there is room to improve in that category.

That is surprising, Denver. Especially considering Spangler was the 2nd leading rebounder in the B12 last year, and I consider Buddy and Isaiah to rebound extremely well for guards.

(I believe Buddy led the B12 guards in rebounding last year, but I could be wrong)

OU definitely had rebounding issues. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the KU game with Alexander and the Texas games. Fortunately, there wasn't a ton of size in the Big XII.

How good is Ben Simmons supposed to be compared to recent type HS recruits? Parker, Wiggins, Towns etc

Anyone have any idea?

He is supposed to be a great point forward. Excellent passer and all around game

He'll be good!

Not quite in the category of Top-notch one and done guys like Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Davis, John Wall, etc., but he'll make an impact.

I'd say Jabari Parker will be a fair guess as to the caliber season he'll have, great numbers but won't win POY or anything

going to have to disagree here. He's been labeled as one of the top guys in recent memory to force teams to try to suck in the NBA this year to tank and get him. Andrew Wiggins had very minimal impact his one year in college, with a handful of truly big games. Embiid had a bigger impact than he did.

And to anyone who might say that he is projected #1 based all on potential, you aren't projected by numerous publications as the POY as a true freshman unless you are planned to come in and tear it up. He is ready right now to dominate.

Eh, but we've heard that same narrative before with other guys.

Remember how everyone said that Shabbazz Mohammed was the next Kobe Bryant?

Hell, Sports Illustrated put Jabari Parker on the cover with the headline "The Best High School Player Since Lebron" :facepalm

Austin Rivers came into Duke ranked as the #1 recruit in the country and was a preseason all-american, and he was a relative bust (comparatively speaking).

All 3 of those guys were hyped like no-other coming into their freshman years.

Just because they are hyped, doesn't exactly mean they are actually that good.

I do think Simmons will be an All-American (probably 2nd team), and he'll no doubt be a top-5 pick based on his tools and potential.

But I just don't think he's going to really be in that NPOY conversation or be of the caliber of some other one-and-done's we've seen.

Ben Simmons wasn't even ranked the #1 recruit in his own HS class.

Of course, he isn't going to Kentucky.

I saw Simmons at MSG this year and he is a lot of fun to watch, been a while since someone his size could handle the ball like he can. Has a nice jumper also and he's obviously athletic, nothing freakish however. Going to LSU without elite talent around him will probably hurt him the way his game is right now but he's going in the top 3 next year regardless. Don't think he ll be a POY candidate though this year.

You would think Lon would match up a guy like Buford on Simmons in that game based on how you guys describe his game a point forward.

I'd put Cousins in the top 50. Spangs is probably about right were they have them. Both really good players.
