Given all 13 ships are now in use what do you expect for this upcoming season.

If I were to guess this would be the starting line up for Game 1
PG - Carl Blair
SG - Cade Davis
SF - Cameron Clark
PF - Nick Thompson
C - Andrew Fitzgerald

So how do you think next year will shake out?

15-20 wins (6-8 in conference) NIT

I think they get 16 wins, 6 in the Big XII and are competing for a NIT bid. Not sure if they get in.

I think CJ Washington may start at the 4. And depending on Calvin N, I think he may start at the point.

After further thought. Blair at the point is probably a better play. He is D1 transfer that has been around the block. Maybe Newell later in the season or a good scoring point off the bench.

It's still a complete guess at this point. Who knows how these guys will mesh? Going strictly off the talent we've collected i'll say 15-20. Could be more, could be less.

I'm guessing Blair - 1, Davis - 2, Pledger -3, Washington -4 and Fitz at the 5, at least to start the year. Then depending upon how good and ready the freshman are, perhaps Clark, Taylor and/or Newell growing into the mix. I'm guessing if Thompson doesn't start at the 4, then he is our 3d option in the post. Since I haven't really watched these guys, these are just guesses off of paper.

Whatever the lineup, I think we have a better record than last year. We will play better defense and have more depth or options than last year. I think we will look something like Capel's first team. So, with the reservation that I may change this after seeing the team for the first time next fall, I am predicting a winning record (barely), and 3-5 wins in conference. If we get decent point guard play from Newell, Blair or Taylor and Clark is as good as some have told me (that watched him a lot) then we might be 2-4 games better overall and in conference than this prediction. Frankly, I don't think I have ever seen a worse defensive team or a more selfish offensive team than our team last year, and so I just don't think we can be worse than last year.

Center-Fitz/Ahmed
PF- CJ/Nick Thompson
SF- Cade/Cam Clark
SG- Steven Pledger/ TJ Taylor
PG- Carl Blair/ Calvin Newell

What is the latest on Kyle Hardwick? Or Barry Honore?

I know this is a fan board and people like to be optomistic...but expectations are getting too high. This reminds me of last summer when we were optomistic about how the team had a bunch potential double digit scorers and a lot of us were expecting Ray Willis to be a big time shooting guard.

We have a team that has one proven Big 12 level starter (Cade)....everybody else is just a guess as to how good they will be. Realistic expectations are 4 Big 12 wins and 15 overall.

PG: Carl Blair/Calvin Newell
SG: Stephen Pledger/TJ Taylor
SF: Cameron Clark/Cade Davis
PF: CJ Washington/Nick Thompson
C: Andrew Fitzgerald/Ahmed

I really wish Barry Honore was still around... He tested very well athletically coming in and has similar credentials to Matt Pilgrim, who was an impact player at Oklahoma State. He could shoot and rebound.

I mostly agree with you, but i see us being able to get 6 conference wins next year and 16-17 overall. Not a huge difference from what you see. I still think we can beat texas and osu at home, Colorado at home, Nebraska at home, and 2 more home wins in conference somewhere. its not world beater stuff, but a vast improvement from last year.

I am expecting a slightly better record than last season and maybe an NIT bid.

the sunshine pumper in me believes we get 20 and a decent chance at making the ncaa tourney.

If there is one guy that is starting this year... Its Cade "freaking" Davis

And, Cade is also the team captain (selected by Capel). Cade did this year, and would next year, start ahead of Pledger. If Clark is an impact player, then I think he and Cade would start and Pledger would come off the bench. Guess we will just have to wait and see. I haven't really seen much of Cade's competition, so it is hard to say. But between Pledger and Cade, I think Capel has and will start Cade. Of course, if Cade digresses and Pledger really develps, who knows. Cade has played a lot for Jeff in a lot of tough situations and I just think there is a trust there between the two.

First of all I have OU with 18-13 record,6-8 conference wins.Secondly I can see this lineup being the starting lineup by midseason.

My starting lineup game one:

Post- Washington/Ahmed/Hardrick
Post- Fitzgerald/Neal/Thompson
Wing-Pledger/Clark
Wing- Davis/Taylor
Point - Blair/ Newell

I think Jeff goes with maturity first and by season end, talent (regardless of age) moves up.By midseason I think Cade moves to the bench and Taylor becomes a starter, also I could see Clark moving ahead of Pledger.I think both PGs will play a lot.

I think if we are competitive in the big 12 (by which I mean top half, in the hunt for the post season) then we stick with maturity to start because you have to be mentally tough to win in the Big 12. and its not like Cade is a scrub, he can ball. He was runner up in the Gatorade player of the year in Oklahoma to Blake Griffin. Now if we are not competitive, i.e. like this year, then i think we go with youth to get them gelling for next year

I'd say there is almost no way Nick Thompson is a starter.
He only averaged 4 ppg at juco.

I'd expect Washington and Fitz to start at the two posts.
Cam will start at the 3, Cade or Pledger at the 2, and Newell or Blair at point.
