Cheese Davis played for Tubbs. I loved him too.

Not really old enough to know the Pre Tubbs era, but without a doubt Alvin Adams comes to mind.

The Tubbs era was a bevy of talent there! I liked Bryan Sallier a lot! Stacy, Mookie, Skeeter, Webster...........

The Sampson years had some talent too! Hollis, Quannas, Bookout, Ace, Najera, Minor......

Capel years are dark in my mind, but Crocker deserves some mention here.

Kruger, the fun is just beginning! Can not wait to make these comments in later years. Exciting - Buddy is a beast, like Spangler, and RO of course!

I'm an old guy so I can name a lot of the coaches pre-Tubbs for the fun of it:

Bob "Go Go" Stevens - Stayed with the athletic department for many years after he was fired as a coach. He was also a Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve unit out of Norman, and I often served as his radio operator when we were in convoy. Very nice man. The player I most remember was Don Sidle who was an All-American center for 2 years and played several years in the old ABA.

John Macleod - I liked Clifford Ray (Center) who went on to play in the NBA for many years. I also like the trio of Scott Martin, Bobby Jack, and Kirby Smart in Macleod's later years. I think he recruited Alan Adams but freshmen couldn't play varsity back then. MacLeod left the Sooners to coach in the NBA and later was the coach at Notre Dame.

Joe Ramsey - Named coach for a couple of years, but he was the coach for Alvan Adams' varsity years, and Adams was great. Adams was just as dominate as Wayman or Blake, but in a different way (all-around). Ramsey was named coach after Lester Lane died in a pickup basketball game the summer before he ever coached a game.

Dave Bliss - I guess John McCullough. Other names include Cary Carrabine, Al Beal, Aaron Curry, etc. I used to love to watch these teams in the pre-season Big 8 tournament up in KC every year.
