Felisha Gibbs @FelishaGibbs
Parkin, Arkansas
I am a nice person, good listener, love answering questions and is an athlete. Going to the University of Oklahoma this July hopefully :)

Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that she might have NCAA clearing issues. That sounds likely.

Gibbs is now on the roster 21 and 12 in high school isn't bad; we've had a lot of "Project Post" in the past, but I can't think of anyone with number like hers.

Her numbers are very good...can't help but wonder why no other teams were interested.

I'm thinking grades and a lack of AAU play was one thing.

Let's see.

James Hale said that she is a great athlete and a jumper.

Sherri thought enough of her to recruit her. She could have held the scholarship for next year if she thought there were better options.

Let's celebrate. We have a winner!

I hope she will be a great player at OU but I think it's reasonable to have concerns. I doubt James Hale has seen her play.

James Hale probably has not seen any of OU's women basketball recruits play. He probably accepts what Sherri (or someone) tells him.

If Sherri thinks she's good enough to play, whose opinion would trump that?

I don't think anyone is correct on evaluating recruits all the time...that includes Sherri.

So what do you do, use a ouija board? No, you go with Sherri.

Of course, she is the head coach. But, according to Syb, because James Hale commented that Gibbs is a good athlete who jumps well and Sherri wanted her, we have a winner. All I'm saying is, I hope she is a really good player but I think the jury is still out at this point.

Could we use the R word on her? I know women don't red-shirt

A financial aid agreement is a scholarship.

I thought "financial aid agreement" was a general term under which you could have scholarships, student loans, grants, etc. I didn't know it was a term used just for scholarships.

Aid other than a scholarship can get tricky. I don't understand the rules, but you can't max out your scholarships and give loans to another five players. In order to receive financial aid, aren't the athletes required to be NCAA eligible, at least initially?

For the sake of argument, you are correct and so is Soonercuda. After attempting to read the Universities "Financial aid agreement" pages, it can be exactly what Norm said. However just to throw in my two cents, and I don't know this to be fact, but she may be on a year by year "aid package" assuming it will be renewed if she meets all the "scholarship" requirements. Passing required hours, and meeting grade avgs, etc.... Or, she is on a regular scholarship like her team mates. It doesn't matter to me, hey, she's a Sooner and I wish her all the success!!!!!
