Who do you think pulls off the biggest shocker in the first round this year?

Biggest upset I have is Montana over Wisconsin.

It seems every year I pick against Wisconsin early. I always get the sense that they have a history of disappointing in the tournament... but can't remember if they disappoint because they lose early or if they disappoint because I predict them to lose early and don't. And I'm too lazy to actually research that part of my bracket, so I just pick them to lose again.

Either way, eventually I'll probably be right at least once.

Long Beach State, although I'm not sure it's an upset if they win.

Detroit Mercy

Long Beach State has been thrown around a lot, but I'm not buying it. Sanders didn't play in the Big West tournament (and they needed to win to get in the dance), not sure how healthy he is. Also, UNM's defensive efficiency is in the top 15 in the nation...and they have played some scoring teams. New Mexico is just too deep for them.

Sanders?? Are you talking about Larry Anderson? Even without him, they have a lot of game.

New Mexico is definitely a difficult matchup, but when two teams seem to be about the same, I like the team in the tournament that has the best player, which is undoubtedly Beach.

haha wow, not sure where I got Sanders from but yes Anderson. UNM's ability to run inside-out and get to the rim is huge. With Greenwood back healthy, they have a PG who can facilitate and let Kendal Williams work off ball. If The Beach can create turnovers that may spell trouble, but UNM is going to kill them on the glass.

Don't think it would be too big of an upset, but I have NC State over San Diego State, who has been pretty unimpressive the past month and weaker efficiency numbers.

Yea I like that also, I think they can beat G'town also. I'm not a big Georgetown fan.

Belmont can score the ball, G'town is going to have their hands full with them in Round 1 (refuse to call it the Second Round). Not a big G'town fan either.

I have Belmont, Long Beach State, VCU, Ohio and Harvard.

VCU over Wichita State. And I am a WSU alum.

I am also a lifelong diehard OU fan, not a troll.

I like the Bonnies over FSU.

I've been thinking of that...but FSU just rolled through the ACC tourney and seems to just have something good this year...the Bonnies needed to win the A10 to make it, so I just don't know how much I can favor them (plus, in one bracket, I went crazy and put FSU in the Final Four)...

My big upset pick is way out of the box (and very biased, seeing as my dad is a Blackbird alum), but I really think LIU-Brooklyn couldn't have asked for a better draw as far as one seeds go than MSU (LIU's style is completely different than MSU's -- being that LIU is an uptempo style team)...should be a fun game, and I'll definitely be rooting on the Blackbirds from Brooklyn...

Plus, people seem to forget, LIU scored at will against UNC in the first round last year in Asheville (or Greenville, whichever NC town hosted the first round last year)...they just didn't have the defense to stop an offense as potent as UNC...MSU doesn't have that type of an offense, so if LIU can score on MSU, I honestly think they have a chance to pull off the big one....
