William Jennings had heard some rumblings about this a couple of weeks ago, but Fraschilla just confirmed it in an interview with Bob Barry Jr.

And according to the interview, this apparently is going to stick regardless of who the new coach is, which makes sense because William had heard through the grapevine he's a big OU fan (lives in Dallas) and was in Norman sitting in the stands behind the OU bench during the OSU game two weeks ago. We'll see.

Don't expect him to be anything more than a walk-on though. His name is James and he's a 5-10 point guard who played at Highland Park in Dallas. Here's some video:

Welcome, James!

Since he's walking on no matter who the coach is, it's obvious he really wants to be a Sooner.

Maybe Fran can send us a couple of European 7 footers...

Is this why people are listing Fraschilla as a candidate to replace Capel?

Fraschilla nearly killed New Mexico's program, he doesn't need to be anywhere near OU's.

We can let this kid walk-on but not the one from Ft. Gibson? Not good for the state, IMO.

Re: ***Fran Fraschilla's son walking on at OU next year***

Which one from Ft. Gibson?

I think Keese is his name. I'm sure Keese will find a better opportunity than to walk-on. My point is why are we catering to this kid instead of an Okie.

who are we catering to?

Maybe Fran, maybe some connection to the Highland Park's elite, maybe ESPN...I'm not sure and I'm not into conspiracy theories. All I'm saying is this kid isn't that good and OU can find better walk-ons within the Oklahoma borders. We need to have red dirt kids on the roster one way or the other and not walk-ons from Highland Park. Color me baffled, I guess. It doesn't make sense to me and if you can make a case for him over an Okie, please do.

Well...our last coach wasted time looking for walkons and he gave scholarships to some of them (Hardrick, Thompson, Allen, etc.).

Hrere Here, they should always be from Oklahoma!!! I mean look at what happened when we brought in that Beau Gerber kid from Kansas! What were thinking bringing in such a well spoken, hard working, 3.8 GPA student in on this basketball team to pay his own way! A travesty I tell you!!!

Walk-ons play a very vital role whether that's in practice or in the classroom. Most of the time they're just "gpa guys". They also make good future coaches in some instances. Why not give that opportunity to an Okie from Muskogee? I'll get off my soapbox.

Most of our walk-ons have well over a 3.0 GPA. Will that be true for the kid from Fort Gibson?

Why don't we let whoever the new coach is make decisions about walk-ons.

Our current roster has plenty of walk-ons except they have scholarships. OU would be better off with 10 players on schollys and 5 walk-ons then what is listed in the game program

I don't get this. Who is guaranteeing him a spot on the team? It's the coach's job to sign scholarship players and to choose walk-ons if they want. We have no coach, and Capel didn't Ok this. So my question is who has the authorization to declare this kid will be on the team no matter what the coach-to-be says? This is fishy. If he wasn't an ESPN personality's kid this would never happen.

I'd rather have a 6-10 walk-on than a 5-10 walk-on...

Exactly. I have a bad feeling about this. If anything goes wrong whatsoever this kid could immediatly go to his dad and Fran would make a huge deal of it on ESPN like it's news.

Just the fact that the kids name is James remind me of the kid from Texas Tech that got Leach fired.

All this for a 5-10 kid with no talent?

Pretty sure it was Capel who offered him the spot on the team.
