I like the look of our freshmen. Doolittle is the real deal Time will make them a good ball club

The difference with OU being a bubble team and being a midlevel seed lies on McGusty, Freeman, and Doolittle. If they develop by end of season, we will have some great depth and scoring on the 2nd unit. Freeman getting to come in the 2nd part of last year was a huge bonus.

I see Freeman as our 5th post. Will be a good player but is really behind on defense & rebounding.

Agreed. Like a lot of young players under Lon, Freeman will get some time in the early games, but as the conference season approaches, I think his minutes will fade to almost nothing outside of mop up time. That doesn't mean I'm not excited about his future. A big who can shoot like that will be a major weapon down the road. He's just not ready physically for major college basketball yet.

I saw that Freeman had no boards. He must improve here.
Who was the most pleasant surprise.

Strong to me. He looks like our backup pg & can move Woodard to the 2 in spurts. Also was happy with Lattin & James' progress but that was kind of expected.

His free throw shooting looked smooth.

That stat was wrong. I remember one play for he got the offensive rebound and went back up with a baby hook shot and made the follow.

Strong is not just strong, he is quicker than I expected. I know that was an exhibition opponent, but Strong played like a really good basketball player. He looks like he knows what he is doing out there.

His radio interview after the game was a bit poignant. It was like he was pinching himself at his good fortune for being at Oklahoma. His genuine appreciation and "feeling blessed" for being at OU after JUCO came through clearly. He seems to love his teammates and OU.

Agree with others who say Strong. I liked his energy. The team kind of seemed like they were going through the motions, and he came in and provided a spark. Every good team needs a player like that.

I was pleasantly surprised by Lattin's offensive mindset. He did jack up a three, and I hope that doesn't continue, but he's very clearly worked hard on his offensive game. I bet if he can consistently hit that 12-15 foot jumper, he'll be good for 9-10 ppg.

Not necessarily a "surprise" given his recruiting rankings, but I really liked what I saw out of McGusty too. He's got a pure shot, and it looks like he can really score. Pretty good on defense from what I can tell (though I'm no expert). There are still some rough edges (one bad turnover sticks out to me), but that's to be expected. If/when he cleans that up, he's going to be a very big part of this team.

Having a guy like Strong come in ready to contribute will be very very important to our success this season. When you grab a juco talent like him you really hope he is ready to contribute because more often than not the transition for freshman is harder.
