Gallon defends self against NCAA investigation

Please let this be accurate.

I hope that's the story. That seems like the least culpable for us. I still imagine that Oronde knew this guy and hooked Tiny up with him. But, it also could have been something where Tiny told Oronde what was happening, then he called the financial advisor to make sure everything was on the up-and-up, and then kept following up to make sure he got paid back (I doubt it, but you never know).

Anyway, if the money got paid back, it's not really a huge deal...especially if we didn't find the guy for Tiny. We could still get some punishment, but if all we had to do was forfeit games or lose one scholarship or something, I can live with that as long as we get some assistants in here who won't screw around.

There is no OU/NCAA issue with Tiny's mom taking out a $3000 loan to pay for a transcript, or for anything else for that matter. OU is only going to be at fault here if Oronde was the person who orchestrated this whole arrangement. And if he did, and did it from his OU cell phone, then he is not smart enough to have been sitting in the 1st assistant's seat to begin with.

The comment at the bottom of the article is awful.

Hopefully the article tells the whole truth, but I have to agree with the Tulsa World....Tiny's dates don't match up.

I hate to say it, but I am pretty sure Tiny is not being honest, which will only make it worse.

If it was just an honest loan, why did Capel tell Tiny to leave? If it was just an honest loan, why did that guy get fired? If it was just an honest loan, why did the guy deny doing it originally?

Until now, I have believed that Hausinger got fired for his involvent in the loan to Tiny's mother. Now, that doesn't seem to be the case. It appears Hausinger was fired from Merrill Lynch then came out with the story of Tiny and his Mom just to see if he could cause trouble for OU.

The outstanding issues are, what roll did OT play in the loan and who else was involved.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this may not turn out as bad as indicated when it was first reported.

"....but whatever they do, it's on them."

Pretty bold statement. That just doesn't sound like someone that has a good feeling about the University.

Couple of random thoughts....
1. Isn't August pretty late to be finally getting transcripts for a Fall semester admission? I would think there is a deadline for admission applications.
2. Is it possible that he really did want to play his Soph year at OU but because of the "issue" with the financial advisor and his mother he was advised to leave?
3. IF this (payment) was "arranged" by an OU coach, and they (Tiny and his mom) were unaware that it could be an issue, only then can I see him saying "it's on them". Just can't believe the kid made that statement for a news article.

I took that to mean he was referring to the NCAA, not OU.

As for what will happen at Oklahoma, Gallon said, “I’m really not sure but shouldn’t nothing happen. They’re probably going to be a little more strict, but whatever they do it’s on them.”

It does seem that this quote is talking about the NCAA, not OU.

Huh? You think he got fired and decided to cause trouble for OU? Why would he do that?

It should be illegal to withhold a transcript for failure to pay tuition.

Oak Hill should be ashamed of themselves putting people in this position.

Since he got fired he was probably needed money. I'm sure TMZ paid him for his information, especially since their TMZ Sports business was/is just getting started.

Thats the silliest thing I have ever heard. He just chose OU at random to cause trouble? It would have to be at random if the loan was innocent and legit, after all.

Geez.

I don't know for sure if that is what happened or not, just speculating like everyone else.

C'mon, Norm. Haven't you learned ANYTHING over the last few months? You can only pull speculation out of your butt if it's NEGATIVE...sheesh.... :p

:ez-laugh: Yep, from now on, I am going to demand 'proof' when someone says something negative about this situation.

Story broke from TMZ March 18.

Hausinger was fired March 26 according to federal regulators.
