GAME 14 - SEC OPENER #10 OKLAHOMA (13-0) @ #5 ALABAMA (11-2) 5pm CST on SEC NETWORK

Offense isn’t what is killing us. Bad shooting, but the reason where down by 17 is the defense. Just gave up 48 in half
Exactly, and the dirty little secret is that we haven't been all that good on defense for most of the year. When we are able to turn teams over, it masks our deficiencies in the halfcourt (perimeter defense, rebounding)....and we haven't done that tonight. Our non-con was good, but the reality check is just beginning. According to the metrics, Bama isn't as good as Auburn, Tennessee, or Florida....and is probably on par with Kentucky. Let that sink in.

Main observations
- Fears looked like a freshman on the road against a top 5 team. I think he'll be better the next time. He had 2-3 wide open looks at 3 that I don't expect him to miss again.
- Think Taylor needs to start over Miles. It's just tough going 6'1, 6'2, 6'4 - need some size in the starting lineup.
- If Jones or Nwankwo returns, then its Goodine losing minutes. Forsythe should also steal his minutes in the second half.
I'm ok with Miles starting but Taylor needs to be playing ahead of Goodine.

I think we are good enough on offense to compete even though we’re not showing it today. I don’t have the same thoughts about our D right now.

Barely top 100 defensively in some of the metrics, which is even more alarming given how many awful offensive teams we have played. I suspect our defensive turnover rate will follow last year’s trend, and we won’t create many at all against conference teams. We will be at a significant athletic disadvantage most nights in the league, and that will make it very unlikely that we will be able to turn teams over.

If JN and Jones ever are ready to play, they need to play. JN is rumored to be a good athlete and Jones is supposed to be a good defender.

Probably 99% of teams in America would struggle with Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, and even throw in Kentucky and Florida. Especially on the road. This conference is VERY good at the top.

Losing to those teams will not determine how successful our season is…how we play vs. Arkansas, South Carolina, Vandy, Mizzou, etc will determine our fortunes.

But would hope we can be more competitive of those top 4-5 teams than we showed in the first half. And really disappointed with the effort on the defensive end.
