NORMAN — Looking for its sixth win in eight games, Oklahoma (16-14, 6-11 SEC) closes the regular season at Texas (18-12, 9-8) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT at Moody Center in Austin.

Saturday's game will be televised by SEC Network with Lowell Galindo (play-by-play) and Pat Bradley (analyst) announcing. It will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; SiriusXM 383; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry on the call.

Oklahoma has won five of its last seven games, picking up victories at No. 15 Vanderbilt, vs. Georgia, vs. Auburn, at LSU and vs. Missouri. In those five wins, OU led for 174:52 of 200 minutes and by double digits for a combined 91:33. Six Sooners averaged double figures in scoring and OU shot a combined 55% from the field and 51% (58 for 113) from 3-point range in the five triumphs.

If we win this friggin game (which i do want to do), 17-14 starts looking decent to the uninitiated (like brand new ADs).. Gross either way

This is a tourney quality team under a non-moron HC. Can't believe Porter Moron found another path to a losing conference season and another sub-20 win season

Here is my worst fear.

Moser wins another game or two, which like you said, makes the season look better than it actually was. He sells the new AD on "hope" and keeps his job despite us missing the Dance again.

Next year we sneak into the Dance with another very mediocre season. Still a broken program, but we win just enough. That buys Moser an contract extension and essentially, a new lease on life. We then proceed to miss the Dance the next 2-3 years.

So more of the same. :(

I think some of you are overblowing the new AD angle, at least as far as suggesting that he might be somewhat unaware how bad things have been under Moser. No, he wasn't following OU closely for the past five years. But he worked in college sports and clearly would have been aware that our program was in a downward spiral. And I can't imagine a world where he wouldn't have closely studied our athletic department throughout the entire time that he was interviewing for this job, which included this entire season. He also has eyes and ears and can see the empty arena, read the ticket sale numbers, and hear fans boo and read them posting negative things about Moser on social media.

He might keep him, but it won't be because he isn't aware of the issues.

Also, for those who spent weeks wondering why some of us realized it would be better for us to lose down the stretch -- it's funny that now that we have won a few, some others are getting nervous that the wins might save Moser's job. This is exactly what I had said all along -- if we had finished 13-19 or 14-18, it would have probably been a guarantee that he would be gone as soon as the buzzer sounded next week in Nashville.

I just don't see how 17-14 and 16-15 really makes a difference when you have 5 years of data. If we don't fire him at 17-14, we weren't going to at 16-15.

The only way one game matters is if that's what pushes us into the NCAA tourney. This Texas game only matters in that regard if we make a deep run but come up just short in the SEC tourney, so there will be plenty of time for folks to cheer against us vs non-Texas teams.

No friggin way we should extend this doucher just for making it 2/6 times to the dance..

The AD can research and look at numbers on a page all day but he will not have watched every single game of the Porter regime (aka he'll never understand the situation as it really is imo - plus the nil changes excuses and conference switch).. and bball is just simply not that important compared to football

You shouldn't be so confident in the new AD imo

guess i'm in the minority but I hope we win as many games as possible, including against texas, and we make the dance.
I will never root for us to lose, regardless of the situation. This isn't the NBA or NFL, where we are trying to slide into the first pick of the draft. I can't fathom doing that under any scenario. It's not like a new coach guarantees that we are in a better situation. I think the lack of attendance at home games is just as much an issue for Porter as his record this season at this point. There's also tons of things behind the scenes that none of us are privy too. What have the BMD said in regards to PM?? Lots of variables here.

I’m not saying I’m confident he will get it right. But I think he knows all the info. I’m sure he talked to a lot of people both inside the athletic department and outside and got plenty of perspective on the basketball program. You’re right that football is the main focus, but men’s basketball is still very important for every big time athletic department. If Moser were coaching the men’s tennis team, for example, I think he would have a better chance of flying under the radar during Denny’s first few months.

Well see. I'm puckered up. Porter is supposedly very very likeable when he's not losing you games

It’s ncaa tournament appearance or Moser is gone. It’s that simple.

This new ad comes from a legit basketball program. He expects ou to be in top half of the conference. Ou has not done that once since Buddy hield left.

Beat the hell out of texas

bball losing money is very important .. (it is supposed to make money ) .. and the new AD for sure will see the decline in season ticket holders and bball donations ..

on a spreadsheet ..
