General college hoops game thread

Agreed. I don’t see that happening though. Even if Porter got this team on a crazy run, and somehow got us in the tourney (highly unlikely), I just feel he’s already lost the fan base…and that has to factor into this decision. We need new energy and excitement back in the b-ball program.
I'm all for us making the tourney on a crazy run but ONLY if it results in porter loser tricking another university to hire him after the season. Otherwise, I'm on the fully tank bandwagon. Luckily, I don't have to worry about porter loser going on a run (which is kind of ironic bc he only has a career because of 1 run...).

Didn't you champion the Tang hire tho? Be honest
When have I not "been honest" on this board when I end up being wrong about something? I praised him a lot his first couple years, absolutely. He has turned into a train wreck, especially this year. The sad thing is that if he loses the rest of his games this season, gets fired, and collects $18M, he still had a better tenure at KSU than Moser had at OU, because he had one really good season that ended with a deep tournament run.

Well yeah, that makes sense bc Porter Loser is an unmitigated failure

His one year only happened cause kstate was willing to clear and play Johnson. Several schools told him no. He went on to play in nba, so looking back kstate made right decision.

That’s a gross oversimplification. First of all, he arguably wasn’t their best player in the tourney. Second of all, having a fringe NBA player on a roster doesn’t guarantee a successful tourney run. I seem to recall us having a high lottery pick last year and our tournament run lasted approximately 130 minutes of real time.

Tang may have been a one-hit wonder, but he does deserve credit for that season.

You did more than praise him.
You were constantly praising him at the same time as slamming OU for Moser.
Making it look like Tang was some godsend and that KSU knows what they are doing while OU doesn't.

Just goes to show that prudence is needed. It reminds me of fans that freak out after allowing a touchdown on the first drive of the game but then go on to shut out the opponent.

He does deserve credit. But all coaches can have 1 good year. Johnson lead the team in scoring and rebounds in 2 of there 4 ncaa tournament games. Nowell leading scoring the other 2. Nowell went on a run that year as well. Johndon averaged 17.4 points and 6.8 rebounds. Nowell 17.6 points and 8.3 assist. Good pair to have.

But his worst mistake as a coach was loosing Nigel pack who left kstate that year he was hired for Miami. I kid I kid.

Edit: also besides Johnson and Nowell seeing nba action, the 3rd best player was nae’qwan tomlin who is currently on the Cleveland cavs.

Oh I agree, and like I said, he has become an absolute disaster. His press conference are as bad as the coaching. I can’t think of another guy in the recent past who has flamed out quite as quickly. It’s hard to explain how much KSU fans loved him the first two years, and now they can’t stand him.

Yup. She was. You’re right on. Just trolling as usual. Closet Kansas fan.
