Geno is good friends with Sherri and actually helped OU out somewhat on hiring Sherri. What would be the most intriguing aspect of this is how good of a recruiter would he be? We know he can recruit the girls but what about men?

Blake would've been a Jayhawk. I doubt Geno would've been able to convince him he could be the next Rebecca Lobo in his system.

If you watch the video Geno speaks like he had made up his mind to take the job but then his daughter talked him out of it. He says it was "five of midnight" when he picked up the phone to call and decline the job.

Nay, I don't think he would be able to recruit guys. I think he could probaly coach them up but he would be Doc Sadler like. Good bench coach, poor recruiter.

Stroke! He's too "flamboyant" for my liking.

I like outside-the-box thinking and I like experiments, especially in an industry like sports where thinking rarely changes because the hiring process is always so incestuous.

That said, I'm not sure I would have been too wild about that. I don't think there is any question Auriemma can coach, but would he have had the kind of contacts in the AAU ranks that are necessary? That's an honest question, I don't know.

I guess my reaction would have been some kind of combination of interest, bafflement, and horror. It would have been a risky move to say the least.

It would be an interesting story to see play out somewhere.

I definitely think women should start getting hired to coach in men's programs soon. Are there any women assistants in D-1 these days? I know there was one at Akron awhile back.

I would have been cautiously optimistic, I think it would have either been a huge success or a miserable failure, no in between.

I will say that hiring Aueriemma would have given us instant exposure that very few other people we could have hired would have given us. It would have been a national story for a long time.

Kind of like a terrible natural disaster.

Embarrassed would probably have been my reaction.

But who knows what could have happened?

He's a winner!!! No one has been more consistent than Geno. I guarantee he would be able to recruit.

I don't care if it was div 2, juco, WNBA...anyone with Geno's coaching outcome would have my backing 100%.

I know for a fact he was never offered the job. He is just pumping himself up. He was contacted but never interviewed for the job. There was one person who was offered the job before Jeff and he is now at Oregon. Anything else you here is bs. Also Jeff staying is now 50/50 as of yesterday.

Not to mention...He would have probably been able to bring in Blake....and don't think that he wouldn't have been able to capitalize on that success probably even more than Capel ever did.

From what I hear...Geno was Joe C. 1st option...so I don't know where your info is coming from. Not saying your wrong...but I'm not saying your right either.

Trust me I am right and my info comes from inside the program.
