Geno wins. After a game, you generally can't complain about officiating. I never had the feeling that UConn cheated or played dirty. They just did everything right. They have good players. But, I think it is Geno who makes them what they are.

When I first saw Breanna Stewart, I thought she was a good forward, perhaps a post. I could see her as an All-American by the time she was a junior or senior. But, I didn't see what Geno had seen. Stewart is the Magic Johnson of women's basketball. Maya Moore had been to some extent, but not like Breanna. She can dribble well enough to bring the ball up court. But, she can play the three, four, or five---the latter two better than anyone else in the game. And, she has done it for four years.

I think if Stewart had gone anywhere else other than UConn, we would have known her as a good power forward or a good post. I think it is Geno who has the vision to transform her into whatever the team needs. Others would have made Stewart an All-American. Geno made her POY.

I think that he has done that with Jefferson as well, only not as versatile. I was not enthusiastic about a home-schooled girl who lived only about ten miles from me being at UConn. I thought he had failed on this one. I didn't see what he has developed: a defensive star who can kill you with drives or with the three. She never had that shot.

I strongly suspect that if Geno weren't there, ND, Maryland, Baylor, and Stanford might have better shots at the title. They may actually look like they have recruited better. But, Geno is the one who has the vision of what each can become.

I think OU has survived as a strong program because Sherri has a lot of that in her. She probably can't get the top kids in the nation in here. But, she has the vision to create. We very well could go to the Final Four this year and next. Do we have a McDonald's All-American?

I think that's right. Geno can get more out of players than anyone else could, not even close.

I'm not sure what you watched when you watched Jefferson but what she's doing now, she did in high school and summer ball. Jefferson was the best kid on that team where they won Nike nationals and yes she could shoot but she did develop a better change of pace because it was all 100 miles an hour all the time. She was always the best defensive kid on the team and there was no one close.

When Stewart was on the circuit she was always compared to Delle Done.....watching those two dominate was simply amazing. Stewart played point post for the Belles and no one could really do much with her. Honestly the only kid who slowed her down was Higgins whose at Baylor right now. The game before they played against each other Stewart has close to 50 points which is almost unheard of when talking about summer ball on that level.

They are both doing what i totally expected and everyone needs to thank Delle Done......because had she stayed at UConn there wouldn't have been a chance for another champion

Home-schooled league? Of course, she would dominate that.

Read everything please......she was the best kid on her summer team also. She was on a team that had 4 McDonald all Americans. So it wasn't just home school

If you haven't noticed, I don't place the importance on AAU or summer ball that you do. It seems to be for those who like street ball.

You can have any opinion you wish. I don't think either Jefferson or Stewart would have been used as effectively as Geno has used them. I've seen others who had talent, but they didn't get that type of modification, an offense and defensive strategy that rendered them more effective.

You do know that we won last night. Find someplace else for negativity.

I believe Simms was used effectively....also just because i watch basketball doesn't mean it's negative. You learn more about a kid when they play against kids that are just as talented. School ball numbers should be inflated....but some aren't. Summer ball shows how talented or skill you really are

Come on, SS. If you really follow summer and club ball, you know the coaches have all kinds of incentives toward certain players every year. Those coaches have huge agendas related to money, continued connections, etc. They are generally out - to one extent or another - for themselves - not just the kids.

They are not out there trying to be "fair" to all their players.

As just one example, that is why some players have a green light and others are on a tight leash.

And to say "school ball numbers should be inflated" is naïve. Many - it not most - coaches want to first and foremost win games and will build systems that make that as likely as possible. If that means just lean on one player and hope for the best they may do that. Usually it means you don't want to rely on a single player too much. Use the great ones, but build around them with the goal of putting the best possible performance on the court every game.

When I'm saying school ball I'm talking about high school...sorry for not explaining that. We were talking about being home schooled earlier so that's where that came from.

You are right about summer ball but that doesn't mean you can't tell who can play at that elite level and who can't. Couple of kids that i knew couldn't do it on the EYBL level went out this pass year and didn't do that well. I have a huge question mark on one that will be on the eybl circuit this up coming year. I do agree with you about the agendas, money, and poor coaching but you can still use it as a gauge

Geno has the ability to get players to challenge themself to be better than the limits they would otherwise put on themself. Rare talent. Wonder how many other Div I coaches can do that.
