Gibbs

This surprises me. She has some work to do to make this worthwhile. But, she has what we need, strength inside.

Well, my theory was wrong! I think she'll eventually be a solid contributor but will probably be her junior or senior year. She's extremely athletic!

I thought she did just fine for her first 6 minutes of playing time. She jumps well and can post up solidly.

She was very, very active. Hands everywhere. Her timing on her moves away from the ball was off, or she would have gotten a lot more chances under the basket.

I think Sherri and the staff decided they are probably going to have to have that body available this season. Griffin is in a disappearing funk. Williams is a walking, breathing foul machine, Kellog is a freshman and Durrett, well, God bless that kid.

She probably will not make an impact this year but she has plenty of time to develop.

I had hopes for Durrett but she apparently needs a lot of game time to catch on. So do a lot of younger players that have a future here after this year.

First I have seen of her and color me impressed. Tycat, I think you are correct that she is going to be a contributor. However, I think it will be a lot sooner than you think.

She is very long, fast, quick and has outstanding interior fundamentals. We all need to see a little more before making predictions, but I thought she was outstanding. I see her as a perfect 4. Enough size and toughness, but quick and fast enough to stay in front of the better 4s in the league. Its too early to tell, but I have a sneaky hunch we may see more of her.

I don't know what Gibbs can do. But, I think the fact that she played last night may actually be a statement of this team's intentions. Let's put this in the most positive light.

We discovered on Sunday that this team can play with the best teams in the country. The only invincible team just lost a key component. Louisville and UConn may be #1 and #2. Until we see what Duke has, we won't know. But, we can play with a good team. If we could shoot, we could beat them.

But, we have a depth problem in the interior. I think we may have begun to work on that last night. I suspect that the time that Kellogg got and the fact that Gibbs entered the game at all suggests that we are thinking that we can go far enough to be willing to risk a year of eligibility vs redshirt. We need rebounding depth, and we aren't getting it from Portia. I wonder if we would have played Gibbs last night if we had lost to Louisville by twenty?

Agreed.

Gibbs has potential to be good. The question is.... Is she willing to make herself better? I think she will but there is the question of how much is she willing to make herself better. She seems like she has a lack of confidence, but I believe that will change over time with more experience.

I don't think there's any way Gibbs could play the 4 in this offense. What she could do is be a 3rd string center that could do a good job of disrupting the opposition, and given the new focus on contact we're going to need that. Surprisingly, after being totally ineffective at center, Durrett looked pretty competent in the closing moments at the 4.

Portia always does well against the cupcakes but she looked woefully slow against Louisville and Gonzaga. I think Kellogg has to get ready to be the 1st big off the bench. Our nice lead against Louisville went south when Portia replaced our bigs.

I haven't seen enough of Gibbs to have any kind of informed opinion. She does look quick and no question very strong. Good reaction on the boards but seems to be far from ready to make an offensive contribution except maybe a putback.

She was probably as nervous as heck the other night. Let's she what kind of time she gets and how she develops before we get too excited. I admit, however, that it would be a great thing for the season and the team if she could contribute in some serious way this season.

Durett has no future on this or any other D-1 team.
