Goaltending? He didnt even touch it!!

It is a call that is hard to make with slow mo. Refs can't review it. I can see why they made the call live

I challenge anyone to make a case that the ball had "possibility or entering the basket".

Here is a video loop replay.

I agree that the ball probably would not have wound up as a made basket, but two things are apparent:

The ball was on its downward flight;
The ball would have hit the rim.

COULD the ball have wound up taking some fortuitous bounce and going in? PROBABLY not, but because of the SMU kid's basket interference, all possibility was removed.

And has been mentioned, the ref didn't have the luxury of instant replay, he had to make the best call that he could.

I have no love for either team, and I'd feel really bad if it had been an OU player who tipped the ball, but I think that it was the right call.

The ball was right of and past the rim. How could it have possibly hit the rim? Also, a glancing blow on the rim is not goal tending.

Its funny that the TBS and TNT guys are on totally opposite sides of the issue. The funny thing is that the SMU player was not trying to block the ball from going in . He was going for a rebound.

Sunny had smu going to the final four

It was pretty clearly goaltending. I don't think it was going in but it was pretty clearly going to hit the rim and was, therefore, in the cylinder.

Really poor decision on the SMU guy's part.

If SMU losing is the BEST thing to happens to Larry Brown today, I'm ok with that. Not a fan of that guy.

Also, it was goaltending in my book. Tough luck for the player.

I just saw this. How can anybody argue this? Clearly goaltending.

Did the SMU guy hand hit the rim?

No, his hand never hit the rim. He was standing in front of the rim in the lane but the ball was fading to the right. He went up and tipped it away as it was coming down. I thought the ball was going to hit the rim, but it wouldn't have gone in. It would have been long. It really doesn't matter because his hand was in front of the cylinder when he tipped it, and he didn't give it a chance.

I thought the dress was blue/black, not white/gold.

First I've seen it because I was on the road - or maybe at the beach. No emotion, because I didn't watch the game. It is clearly goaltending. Unfortunate. That guy was highly distraught after the game.
