I see that Gasso has landed an impactful transfer. Why have we not picked up an impactful center.

Riley, Gasso, Kindler, Williams, Hybil and Coale all have the same boss. I have to think that with head coaching changes in the men's tennis, track & field, wrestling, soccer and women's tennis whose programs were under performing Sherri's continued presences as WBB coach might be due to her strong support on the OU Board of Regents now that Boren is no longer available to be in her corner.
I think Joe C. can see the problem and would take action if he were free to do so. JMHO!

Considering the quality of players already on Petty's roster, plus the incoming freshmen and those committed for the following year, I'm not so sure how much impact Jana Johns will have on the softball team.

Johns is a good/very good player, both offensively and defensively. But we've got better coming this fall and even more next year. JMHO

P.S. – I've added this post to the softball thread

Our third base lady Elijah Flores had 10 hits in over 60 at bats for 2020. Johns had an OPS of nearly 1.000 in 2020. I think she has a good chance to start.

I know we have as usual a talented group coming in but I don't see a sure thing for 3b. I doubt that either Gasso or Johns would have made the deal if we had someone coming in that a great prospect for 3b.

I think you have a real grasp of the Sooner situation at 3rd base in 2021.

You may both be right. Guess we'll find out in a few months.

Aside from the post season there is reason to think that Johns number may have against better pitching in the SEC than Flores faced in the Big 12. But like you say we will know in a few months up to a year out as the WCWS is scheduled to start June 3.

I obviously wasn't talking about Flores (not disrespecting her in any way) when I commented on the talent Patty has coming in '21 and '22. I just believe we'll have players in the next two seasons who can give Johns a run for her money at third base. But I'll also be happy if Jana proves to be the reincarnation of Syd Romero and leads the Sooners to two more WCWS titles.

I don't know that Sherri would bring Chandler on board as an assistant coach. It might be too much competition for head coaching job for Colton when Sherri retires and too difficult the decision for Joe C. has to make. ;)
