Question for the Board

Option #3 is no more likely than Option #1. Porter may get a raise, but he’s not going to be fired!

For the record, I want him gone! I’m sick of his lame antics on the sideline and the missed opportunities he’s had to out coach the guys on the other bench! The loss to UK is one of many the last four years. The list has been discussed here ad nauseam, so you don’t need my help. If he stays I will support him. But I would rather see him go!
I'm always pleased to see Ada post!

Thank you, Sky! You have been a great friend over the years, and I appreciate your support!

To be honest, I don’t even read much anymore. Age has a way of slowing old timers like me down eventually. I never thought it would catch up to me. Boy, was I wrong! 😑

It’s always nice to be remembered by friends like you and others that responded to my last post or two! Thanks, everyone!

I'm no spring chicken myself. Your thoughts and insights are always appreciated, as are those of @MsProudSooner , who posted recently. I meant to comment on her post, but I think I got distracted. You've both always been among my favorite posters (and I suspect I'm not alone).

If pm's lost ada.. there's your sign imo

I didn’t think porter was going to be fired regardless of how the season turned out. Can’t see it now for sure.

Lots of reasons not to fire coaches unless you have to. For one, any coach you would want to hire won’t have any trust we would honor their contract and that makes things very expensive.

Like many on this site i get frustrated with some things with porter. But he has done a good job this year considering everything.

I am becoming less interested in college basketball due to nil and portal issues. So I will just support the team and whoever the coach is and just wuit worrying about it. Maybe if the team makes a run this year i can get my mojo back

I'm not nearly as emotionally invested as I used to be. In addition to the reasons you cite, the powers that be seem to want a more physical game and that's not as enjoyable to watch for me. I watched a little bit of the Duke semifinals game the only purpose of the officials seemed to be to toss up the jump ball at the beginning of each half.

MsProudSooner, great minds think alike. I enjoyed the game a lot more when you couldn't restrict the movement of players unless you had proper defensive position, i.e. set and in the line of the movement. Can't remember the year, but a few years before Lon retired, they made a big off season deal of going back to the way the game was officiated and told everyone to get ready for it. They weren't going to allow all of the gross physicality that we had evolved to. Then, when the season started the Basketball/wrestling style coaches, Izzo, Coach K, Huggie bear etc began raising hell about the gillion fouls being called and so the NCAA just said screw it and told the officials to forget about it. After that season, I saw an interview with Lon where he said they spent their entire off season adjusting to the new officiating and he just couldn't get the kids to regain the physicality needed to effectively defend when the mid-season change occcurred.

One of the main reasons I began watching women's basketball more was due to the movement of the game was so much better than in the mens game. The game was more as intended, one of finesse, skill, quickness and speed and less about brute force. But, alas, it seems the women's game is going more of the direction the men's game has gone.

Can you even imagine the advantage Fears would give OU if he played in the 60's or 70's. You think D-Rob would have been the same player in the SEC. The SEC is practically tackle football without pads in both the men's and women's basketball game. Oh well, the world changes and I can't see myself not watching and pulling for my sooners.
