Is This Rock Bottom For the Program?

I don’t think this is the bottom yet. It’s really bad but it could be worse. We could be osu.
The box scores could certainly get worse (& they likely will esp relative to Saturday) but even the few dedicated OU mbball fans are turning apathetic. That to me is rock bottom.

Hopefully people lose their jobs and some new direction comes out of this disaster, but not optimistic.

This describes me. I hardly even checked in on the game on this board, I had better things to do. I knew even if we somehow beat that awful team we played it wouldn't matter. I'm a diehard OU bball fan but count me as apathetic until they do something. Don't expect me to try if you're not trying.

Dayton’s father

Yes and that’s a bad look. We played 7 of our 8 home games against some of the worst teams in the country. I don’t know how you expect big crowds when you do that, especially after three straight years of missing the tournament.

There was more crowd yesterday than I thought there would be. Wasn’t bad really, and got pretty loud in crunch time. The mind-blowing things they did at the end were the worst I can remember seeing - and I’ve been going to OU basketball games since the fieldhouse days watching Clifford Ray and Gar Heard.

It's just a crappy product right now, and other than a few bright spots here and there, it basically has been since our final four run. They might not ever have great fan support in basketball, but if they put out a better product, more fans and students will show. I lived in Lubbock during the Pat Knight years, and went to some games here and there. Tech was bad for about 5 or 6 years, and the stadium was maybe 1/3 full during that time. Tech ends up making some good hires, puts out tournament teams year after year now, and they have excellent support from the fan base.

Isn't it amazing how that works?

They were 13-0 and highly ranked at the time. Imagine how much of a letdown it was to see that crowd.
Which crowd? They were 13-0, then got shellacked at Bama. First conference home game was A&M and I don’t remember hearing much talk that it was an awful crowd. As usual, Loser wet the bed. After another road loss, the next home game was Texas. They had a big crowd and proceeded to fall behind by 93 in the first half. The crowd actually stayed around due to the balloon snake and made a lot of noise in the second half. So, again, which crowd are you referring to? Once they got off to an 0-4 start and showed that they again can’t compete in their league, sure, the support has waned. People don’t want to spend time and money beating their heads against the (culture) wall.
