Greg Marshall, Johnny Jones, and Buzz Williams...

These are the TYPES of coach I expect us to hire. Do I think it would be one of these guys? Not necessarily, but I really believe we're going to hire someone:

• with a proven track record of building and maintaining a program
• with ties to the area.
• with a squeaky clean image
• with a hard-nosed or energetic style of play
• who can relate to our fan base

Is this a WOW hire? No. Will it be the type of hire that will help us win games, recruit the area, and make the tournament? Absolutely.

In that order. I think buzz would be a great hire.

At this point, I'm saying Buzz, maybe a surprise canidate, or Evans.

Marshall had the best talent in their conference this year but under achieved. I don't think he's a great in game coach.

Why can't OU compete with a Top 20 caliber team for a coach?

We have Bob Stoops, who is a Top 5 caliber, but OU basketball can't get into the Top 20. That's why we aren't very good.

Not at all.

I wanted BCG. That likely isn't happening.

I want Buzz. I think that can still happen.

I would be okay with Tubby. Probably not happening.

Those are 3 realistic choices that I'd not only be okay with, but would be pretty darn happy with.

I'd like somebody that has a bit more experience then most of the names being thrown about. I'd prefer somebody that focused on defense, but that is a pretty small pool of coaches.

Other names I could get behind.....the OD coach, or the Richmond coach. Thought neither have ties to the area.

There aren't many available coaches that meet my criteria of experienced, sucessful at a school of similiar stature to OU, defense-minded, and ties to the area.

I was thinking this very same thing earlier in the week. But I would replace Buzz with Terry Evans and that would be the type I expect OU to get. To me Buzz would fit in the WOW category though I don't really prefer that route.

He wasn't Top 20 when he was hired. OU didn't listen to the so called experts and especially not the fans. They took a chance on an assistant coach from a proven winner and hit a home run. Is BB comparable to football? porbably not. It's hard to comapre the two.
