may end up telling the tale on where OU lands in the postseason. The good news is that OU has proven they can play with anyone. The not so good news is that they continue to show an inability to close out games when the game is tight and/or leading late. The next four games are all "winnable" before the SEC challenge game with Bama:
  • WV - they are 0-3 and play 0-3 Baylor tonight; almost won at K-State earlier, but KU gave them a beatdown at home on Saturday.
  • @OSU - may end up being our most winnable road game left. They are near elite on defense, but struggle mightily shooting the ball.
  • Baylor - others including me have commented that they are noticeably down from previous years, but they still have talent. Specifically, they are the worst defense in the conference by a good margin.
  • @TCU - very similiar to us in conference with all games going down to the wire. They are 2-1 and playing @Texas tonight. They could easily be 3-0 or 0-3.

I believe we need to go no worse than 2-2 in this stretch and may need to go 3-1 to really position ourselves as a viable tournament team. As mentioned above, these are all winnable games, but they could just as easily be lost as well. If I had to rank games in the likelihood of winning, it would be:
Baylor
WV
@OSU
@TCU

Every game is a toss up. I would say WVU is a must win to get the ball rolling on some very winnable games. I agree, they need to go 3-1 to have a shot at making the tourrnament.

I wonder if the NCAA would just allow the teams to start the game with five minutes left and OU leading by a few minutes. Let’s just skip to the end and see how we execute down the stretch.

In all seriousness, how big of a lead would we need to have at the last media timeout for anyone to feel reasonably confident that we would hold on to win? Perhaps the only thing sadder than blowing last night is that I was able to turn to my friend as soon as it got to 10 points and tell her exactly how the rest of the game would play out.

Glad we got this one....but this team continues to take weeks off of my life.;)

Need to steal one in Stillwater on Tuesday. The way that TCU looks (they are drilling K-State currently) right now, that will be our toughest game of the next three before Bama in the SEC challenge.

Next four? 2-2 or 1-3 seems most likely.

I’m more concerned about the last 6…lol.

5/6 are against ranked (at this time) teams. Ksu twice.

For some reason I thought we won 5 conference games last year. Looked it up this morning, we won 7. Think we can eclipse that this year? Losing the first two at home didn't help, but this team seems just as likely to lose at home as on the road. And winning on the road in this conference seems impossible, but we have one already. Should be a hopefully exciting, but probably frustrating ride. Maybe they'll surprise us... Can help but root for this team.

I think ou is going to beat ksu at least once. They are going to come back to earth soon imo.

That’s the million dollar question…

I know we’ll be in a fight most games.. if not all. I mean wv is last and we barely won at home… thanks to them missing 4 straight FT’s.

I know we won’t go winless the rest of the season in reality but I just don’t think we’ll win much more than 7 total

I agree. They are a more favorable matchup for us. They can really score, but they are not overly "long" or big. I think we play better against teams with size limitations (see Tech).

This conference is a bloodbath. Pretty much every team (even KU) is going to have a bad night or two. And when you have a bad night, you can easily get blown out because of the number of good to great teams in the conference this year. I'm hoping we catch some teams on an off-night or maybe overlooking us simply because we don't exactly instill fear by our appearance. We are a lot like Wisconsin in our system and the manner in which we play/execute.

They’ll lose some games but I think they are for real. They have two fantastic players in Johnson and Nowell. And they do start a couple 6’10” guys, one of whom (Tomlin) is extremely athletic. He will definitely be a touch matchup for us. Not saying we can’t beat them, but they are good. The funny thing is this will be the first time in ages where we will be the team looking to slow the game down and KSU will want it to be played fast. Never thought I’d see the day!

Kstate is still flying high. Unbelievable job by Tang. Not walking back my statement about ou winning at least 1, but highly doubt we win in the little apple.

Tang has several players from New York. I wonder if he misled them as to which Manhattan they'd be playing in.

Gonna be 1-3 in the stretch that we needed to be 2-2 at worst. Another L is coming on Saturday and then we will be sitting at 11-10. The easy part of the schedule is now behind us. Welcome to OU basketball....sigh.:(

1-3. As expected.

Who will Joe C hire as the next coach?

If Notre Dame wants to pony up $9 million to take Coach Moser, that gives Joe C some leeway. If they don't pony up, the Moser will be at OU next year.
